Previously I made a video about how I make money as an artist in 2022. Today I'll share how I manage my time and balance those multiple careers. First, I'll walk through my habits that I developed over the years and then I'll walk through how I literally structure a week in my life.

Lol you have so much energy, after my 9 to 6 animation job my brain is fully out of commission. Good for you I'm so happy you can do it. To anybody else reading this: it's not your fault if you can't do what Michelle does. Sure organisation helps but there is also different level of energy that each person has in a day. I did have a schedule like that once and I was not doing ok at all. Don't feel like just because someone else is capable of it you should to. Everyone's different.

@@tebhernandez i do, it's not enough for me to have the MENTAL energy to work on creadive progecys for 12 hours every day. Energy is not only phisical. There is also creative energy, if I have to squeeze my creative juice for 8 hours then there is not enough left.

what she does is also the product of discipline, passion, good habits, and repetition. Yeah, people aren't expected to do everything at her pace and I'm sure she also has days where the routine doesn't happen but it's not a bad idea to start building habits in that direction.
@arurora5474

@@lawrencelopez9839 i was not commenting to shame her or something. I just know for a fact that organisation is not the solution at all unless one takes into account their own body and mind. I feel like it's important to remind everyone I can that you are not a bad person if you don't manage to overextend yourself like this working even on the weekends. It's ok to be normal and not an over archiver like Michelle, again, good for her, but it's ok to just exist sometimes.

Thanks for this. I have ADHD and I keep being told "form habits" "be organized" when it's literally the thing my brain is weakest at. I still try and keep trying but it's nice to have a reminder that being weak at this doesn't make me a failure.

Yea. From the last video about the job and the side hussles, this is exactly my question bc it sounded like a one-way ticket to burnout. Glad we're getting a video about the time management behind all the amazing work you do!!

i need a morning routine video cuz dang gurl, 6am to start work?! my routine takes a good hour to fully get myself awake and ready for the day 🤣🤣 side note: COMPLETELY agree with working from home. it used to take 4 hours total out of my day to commute to/from work and honestly I thank the pandemic for stopping that nonsense

such a smart way to organize your schedule! I love that you left a good chunk of time for "doing what you want" i think that is so incredibly key to preventing burnout (along with the time for exercise!)

Michelle, I've been watching your content for years and I think that me and other subscribers share the sentiment that we just really love the videos you're making now. It's especially helpful to me because I'm looking to pursue animation/art as well. I know this is technically your second job, but still thanks for putting this information out there, it's really useful!! :D

Your schedule is stuffed but the money and fun activities you can do with the money is totally worth it. Some people from a local animation studio came by and chilled while my professor held an extra help session and I thought they were so cool and down to earth. Do you ever get so excited about a project you can’t wait till they open the window for talking about it? Does that feeling fade? I finished watching Oni last night, great work!

Even if someone doesn't have multiple projects going on, pretty much everything in life can be considered its own category that can be fit into this list into some way. This video was insanely helpful. Thank you for sharing!! Where does caring for your cats fit into your schedule? I have to spend around 2-3 hours a day for my dog because he's elderly (but happy and healthy!) Also, It's good to see being productive does not have to come at the cost of taking time off for yourself. I think that's why I burned out - I was pushing myself 7 days a week and ultimately injured my hand.

This is so helpful, thank u! I love making schedules it's just actually starting anything is my issue 😭 it's like, how much can you prepare for it to be enough? What's the most appropriate thing to post for optimum engagement? It's questions like that that I dwell on too much that stops me from doing anything rlly. Perhaps I have to set due dates for myself and post whatever I've planned by the end of it? Or present different models to myself? 🤣 I'll make a compelling ppt with different costumes and present it in a board room of mirrors 🤣 funny, but not funny 😭 cri. Ok, essentially I'm an overthinker. Gotta figure this out. But, thanks again for the lovely video ❤️

Are drawing/anatomy studies included in your schedule anywhere? Or maybe part of a morning routine? Thats the one thing that always screws up any schedule i try to do. I end up using up all my energy in warm-up figure studies before starting work on my comic. Perhaps doing those on a day where i dont work on my comic at all would be best.

I started my career in storyboarding this year, not knowing that the local industry had JUST wrapped up multiple projects at the time and that there was a project vacuum; aka there's no work. I honestly thought I was the problem for being too niche until I learned this last week. It kinda sucks that its SO MUCH more project-based and unstable, but I guess having multiple projects really does run in the storyboard-world (having 2 comics in the making myself)
