Clicked on this so fast! Again congratulations! I've never played Terraria, I should really try it out ;) I also really enjoy the older RPG titles and StarOcean has been on my list for a while!

Terraria is so good. If you enjoyed Minecraft and RPGs then I think you'd love it. Star Ocean was one of my childhood favorites and probably started my interest in SciFi.

Thank you! I'm hoping to make my first one next week. Just need to animate the enemies and get their state machines up and running. I spent so much time iterating through enemies though just to find some I liked. ._.

Congrats brother! Your concepts are still a little too advanced for my basic brains... But while im learning, doing courses and watching tutorials... I found your state machine tutorial and I will not stop until I am professional with the concept. It seems the absolute best way to code platforming AI and Players. Keep it up my friend!

I also started with conetic, started with a5 used it through the begining of a7...and lite c...pretty close to c#..moved to unity, to blender game engine, back to unity and in this time I tried godot..started tinyRPG on my channel as a deep learning exp. Now I am working on my game..just wrote the inventory today and I need to add some polish to it, then I write my save/load sys...and see where I go from there. I don't want to get caught up with making everything all fancy before I have the basic systems in place.

Thanks so much for your channel, I'm doing a Godot game jam right now (first ever) and your channel is a lifesaver. Fun fact: my good friend's older brother was actually the voice of Leon from Star Ocean: The Second Story. He was a young kid when he did the voice acting for the game.

That was super interesting! Reverse engineering what a integer is lmao. I have one request. Please make Mr. Squid/Upsidedown bunny a reoccurring character. Also some food for thought. If you do decide to make tutorials again (no rush the devlogs are fun) then maybe you could focus on strategy or top down games instead of platformers. Because the godot tutorials for those are rather niche.
@GameEndeavor
@GameEndeavor 3 жыл бұрын
It's hilarious but the honest to goodness truth, I legit remember trying to figure out what an integer was by looking at their sample projects. That's a good idea. Perhaps I should make him a squid / bunny hybrid monster that flips up and down depending on what form it takes? If I do tutorials again, then for certain I'll be switching up the genre. I was going to do top-down tutorials before deciding to do devlogs, but just couldn't find the motivation for it.
@IvanIvan-nj2to

@@GameEndeavor Maybe the bunny thing could go right side up when idling but becomes upside down and twisted when you get close. Also in other videos it might be funny to have a ongoing lore. Perhaps Master Cube is always lurking in the shadows creating bugs.
@GameEndeavor
@GameEndeavor 3 жыл бұрын
@@IvanIvan-nj2to Bruh, that's such a good idea. I think it would really clear up a lot of the confusion for those that don't see it as a bunny when upside down. Thanks a lot. :) I'm all for adding lore to the videos. I'll have to speak with Lucy about Master Cube seeing as how she created it (I assume). Would be fun to include it in future videos.

How could you say you're not a fan of open source software? Why? It seems absurd to me
@GameEndeavor
@GameEndeavor 3 жыл бұрын
I said I'm not a big proponent for open source software. I don't go out there and sing its praises. It's not that I'm not a fan, I just don't care. I prefer to use proprietary software for the most part, because in my experience it has lead to a more pleasant experience. With a few exceptions like Godot Engine and Krita (though I've never used Photoshop).
@PiotrMaciejczak
@PiotrMaciejczak 3 жыл бұрын
@@GameEndeavor alright. honestly i think pushing for open software on a broad scale leads to a better and safer world for a typical user of the software, so I got kind of kind of shocked an indie developer wouldn't want to see the world pushed into that spot - I think from the user experience, there's absolutely no downside to that, while positive aspects are understandable. Nonetheless thank you for your answer and good luck with the game!
