All the respect to you, Whye Kee. Having grown up in the Yuhua community area myself, where CIDs frequented my school on a weekly basis, I know how tumultuous that period was around the Jurong area. Hai Kim kias pretty much ruled that area and a number of my class mates were part of the gang. If I had mentioned their names I am pretty sure you would know them :). I used to be in the 369 gang. I thought I was a gangster because I feel welcomed at a time where I felt estranged from everyone I love. Then I saw my gang members beat up a guy at a bus stop for no reason other than staring. It's the day I thought nah, I'm no gangster. Beating 1 person up using all of your "friends" is not the the type of person I am. It was brutal but for a while I have a sense of belonging..

@dufreversi42
@dufreversi42 Жыл бұрын
It is an honour if you bled and sacrifice for your brothers. if you are young and strong you can contribute to your gang by doing this. When one live past that age and is old and feeble, cannot be fighting and bleeding for your brothers anymore. Instead of honour, u will be burden and left alone. Might not even be respected by the new batch of joinees. Also if one gets married, what is he going to tell his son that he works as? Unemployed or odd job labour? It becomes a problem if by accident you did not die and live past 50s. A colourful which dulls after the prime age. I rather live a full well rounded life.

in the 90s singapore, it was a common sight to see "gangster" teens in colorful and loud branded clothing, our hair was centre parted mimicking our idols of the "four heavenly kings".. there was fire disco at orchard plaza for $10 entry fee called "tea dance" at 3pm, it was a 369 hangout..we were abled entry at 13 years old already unlike these days, trouble always brew over staring incidents, girls and "territory", i have to admit it was FUN for some years but now I cannot say we were gangsters, we were just trouble makers, the real gang era was in the 50s and 60s where money can be made and amass a small fortune, to all the sg youths out there, do not join "gangs" and take drugs...

Chewing gum isn't banned here technically, just the import of it is (except for those with medical purposes like dental, nicotine). If you bring a stick or two into the country for personal consumption, customs really dgaf either. Honestly we don't miss it, its really no big deal. Crossing the border into Malaysia for shopping is a common weekend thing for Singaporeans, so its not like we're starving chewing gum if we wanted some. Not having to ever again step on gum, or have train doors jammed up from the stuff is a big plus too (which was what triggered the ban in the 80s).

i was beaten up by some senior during my secondary school ages, for me that's the darkest moment of my life until the last day when I found out my bag hanging in the ceiling fan in classroom , and I judge a friend that he was the one who hang up there , after that he doesn't admit and then after school he call a group of gang to beaten me up , after that my shirt was tattered , bleeding and walk back home , my dad ask me what happen , and he eventually bring me go back the the route where the trouble maker walk home , we stop him in the mid way and start force him to say sorry to me , and then I go to my dad car to grab a water pipe and just hit on his body , arm , leg , harder and harder until he begging me stop , at that moment I realize how stupid I was before this , because I couldn't count how many time I was bully by gang in school just because I refuse to pay money to join their gang , and other reason I didn't join because my dad told he he was in a gang 969 at that time ,my dad is sleeping member, so he also told me not to join any gang include his gang. After that incident, my secondary school time finally no more bullying because the school rumors out how I beaten that fat trouble maker . Somehow I still didn't join any gang til today.

Sa kabila ng nangyari sa kanya nakakahanga at na realized niya mga maling nagawa niya in the past at tuluyan siyang nagbago. Pinapakita lang sa kwento niya na it's never too late to change. Nagkamali, nadapa pero bumangon siya at naging mabuting tao at mamayan❤

I am an Australian . In some way Singapore is utopia to me , the sterile crime free vibe the food the blending of cultures . Yes yes I know blemishes exist in every aspect of beauty. The only thing thatb prevents me to live there is the work culture. Keep rocking my favorite Island you are the beacon of Asia!

At 17.00 you can see in his eyes and body language the gang leader, he is drawn to this type of interactions in which he is the most important person at the table, you can have a glimps of what he is expecting from his henchmen, respect and submission. Impressive, he is still a dangerous man but he is able to keep his compulsion. We all should be striving to integrate the masculine part and to be able to be dangerous and civil at the same time. Next time when I will visit Singapore I will go and buy a pot from him.

Last time Jurong east side is one of the worst street in singapore. Those Haikim people are all very sia lan and super active (Wa Dang). Especially if you been to their heavily guarded nest at Jurong Entertainment. Those gangster inside the billard centre will stare the hell out of you and have a very strong Aura once you go in. Almost everyday there is 100s of haikim people at there. Scariest experiences ever.

When I was in school, I was constantly bullied as well cause I was not manly and didn't play sports like the other guys, all I can say is the teachers did nothing and some even joined in name-calling me. The Singapore school system really needs to do better.
