This video is so insightful. Thank you! I’m super interested in trying to get a job with the school district-I have a degree but I am not a teacher-I just want to work with kids and have a flexible schedule. So this is such a gem of a video for someone like me to find. 🙏🏻

Hi, thanks for this video I will have my interview soon, I have no idea what the bilingual paraprofessional position is like and what worries me a little more is English more than Spanish, since I am a native Spanish speaker. But this video has helped me a lot🤗thanks
@teachingthepetites46142 жыл бұрын
Look up commonly used words in school districts, Spanish and English. Attempt to translate papers on your own for practice, you don't have to be perfect. I scored the lowest and I still got the job. Praying that you'll pass!

@@teachingthepetites4614 Thanks for the recommendation, Yes, I will let you know if I passed or not😊

Most states require a certain amount of credits. Others at least an Associate's degree.

Hola quisiera saber que clases tengo que tomar para sacar mi certificación como aide teacher gracias

En muchas partes no tienes que tener certification. El district tiene un examen que debes pasar.

Hello, do you know how to become a para in NC, I’m currently a para in NYC
@teachingthepetites4614 Жыл бұрын
Google state requirements, or you can reach out to the school district you are hoping to work at, and ask their hr department. They should know what's needed.

I called HR (from the school district where you're applying)and asked them. They were able to refer me to the websites that provided study guides.

Do they teach you to treat kids like they’re unintelligent? I was forced to have a para and I want to know why I treated in such a controlling and restrictive manner.
@teachingthepetites46142 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry about that and the way the para made you feel. To answer your question, " No!" We are not supposed to treat children as if they are unintelligent. Most of us get into this profession because we love children and we believe every child capable of learning. There's good and bad apples in every profession. Again I apologize for your experience. 🙏

@@teachingthepetites4614 I worked with a lot of mentally and physical abusive paras who were really good at changing the way they act when others were around. It ruined my mental health. I really think that paras should be wearing body cameras after the things I witnessed.
@teachingthepetites46142 жыл бұрын
@@elmo4032 We're not all the same, but I respect your opinion. I have worked with children that have been verbally and physically abusive to me, leaving me in tears. Do I still love working with children? I do! No child/person is ever the same.
@elmo40322 жыл бұрын
@@teachingthepetites4614 I think because of that, body cameras would be a great step towards protecting everything and ensure safety and transparency. I’ve worked with amazing paras, but they were difficult to come by. Body cameras would be the first set in exposing any misconduct on both sides. I don’t want anyone to go through the psychological and physical abuse I had to go through.
