12:09 Connor's plot is basically the end of the Code Geass movie. Lelouch figures out the enemy can reset time multiple hours in the past over like 5 loops only by how the is being outsmarted.

11:54 There is a webtoon with a similar idea as to what connor whats talking about, is called "Fast Forward", is not a master piece by any means but it is a cool concept. Basically a few people get the powers of a ... media player? it hasnt been explained. But the powers to like pause, rewind, fast forward, backtrack, reset etc. And by killing somebody else you gain their power, so at one point the protagonist goes against rewind whos able to turn back time in losing fights.

For that idea about an athlete being able to reset time like RE: Zero: I don't know how one would figure out that ability exists, but once it does, you could set a trap with an incredibly long incubation period. The best idea I have for the sports theme is to disappear from public view and develop a physique and techniques that completely counter the opponent. That way, they wouldn't have enough time from the reset point to change their physique to beat you. If we go more murderous, you could use a fatal poison or disease with a long incubation period.
