I started in EMS at 19 years old becoming an EMT after completing a summer EMT course and become nationally registered. I then started volunteering and gained some in field experience at two different volunteer agencies.
At the age of 20, the following summer I applied and was granted a spot in paramedic school. I graduated at the age of 21 and was now a licensed paramedic. Throughout that entire period from first stepping foot in EMT class all the way until I got my national registry paramedic I was laser focused until I achieved my goal of becoming a paramedic.
After starting work as a paramedic, slowly but surely every month I would take a course or two online so that I could earn my associate degree in paramedic studies. I did have to take one chemistry class in person but the rest I was able to take online. You don't need a associates degree to become a paramedic but I thought I already had it half done and was able to pay myself little by little at my own pace.
