I find it very helpful to use a blunt needlework needle to sew in the signatures. You can't poke a new hole and you're not going to drive a needle into your finger by accident.

Thank you very much for demonstrating this, Susie!! You took what seems to be a difficult task, and made it look super easy! I've only recently started making journals. I have used envelopes to create some, which involves using only glue. And have done a pamphlet stitch, and recently, done twine binding. I love them all. This is a very "neat" way to do it. Love the hidden spine look...!! I'm definitely saving this easy to follow video! Hugs 😘 Suzy x

This is an awesome tutorial. An alternative to this would be putting the packing tape on top of the chipboard before sewing the signatures on it with some hanging over the sides and then sewing in the signatures and attaching to the spine.

Great books! Love the Signatures. 😍 The collage was precious. (That doesn't "look" correct? 🤣) You made hidden spine look so easy. I felt very clumsy when I did my 1st one. I'm gonna definitely try this, when I "Destroy" my 1st actual book. 😱🤣😭

I've never murdered a book before. Does one just pull and the inside comes out easily? I'd be afraid of ripping the cover.
@creativecafegirl
@creativecafegirl 4 жыл бұрын
It's pretty easy to gut a book. Most vintage books are not glued to the spine, so all you have to do is run your xacto knife down the inside covers to release the book pages.
