I would say the G6e is the Fairmont , the G6 is more the Futura , the XT the Gli , this one has a few G6e options

No it doesn't. Only if it's under 15 years old it becomes stat and only if it goes through an insurance company. I'm so glad in my state a perfectly good car won't get scrapped for panel damage and can be thoroughly inspected and returned to service.

I have it on hold at the moment, but I found out that any repairs on the car have to be done by a licensed panel beater.... which means I have to pay someone to do it :(

It’s more then a dent as I clearly explained , the car has been inspected and has underbody damage , needs a whole new K frame , wouldn’t be safe if the wheel fell off doing 110 , the alignment is way off also

It’s not that you aren’t allowed, it’s because it has been written off and the rego cancelled. Insurance would have assessed it and decided there was too much damage, and to do it all properly (and offer a lifetime warranty on repairs) would cost more than the car is worth. They would have paid out the owner and taken the car. Because the structural integrity hasn’t been compromised on this car, it doesn’t need to be a statutory write off - only an economic (repairable) write off, which can be put back on the road (after repairs and a painful inspection process). A repairable write off is worth more at auction than a stat write off, so insurance companies like to do this wherever possible, to maximise their return.

The idea was to stop "rebirthing". Crims used to buy very very damaged cars from auctions, steal an almost identical car then fit the ID tags from the wrecked car to the stolen car, giving the stolen car the (clean) identity of the auction car. When the system came in it was a right pain in the ass, there were no repairable write offs (in NSW). A 4x4 i owned was written off by insurance for a bit of hail damage i could of easily fixed. The scope of damage has little to do with it, its about ecomical repair. I worked at a BMW smash shop for a while, as the new models are worth a fair bit of money it would take a big hit to write one off so some very badly damaged cars were repaired and put back on the road, all legally and to manufacturers repair procedures.

I’ve always had Falcons and I like them , maybe when I’m 60 I’ll go the merc , I’m sure it’s an amazing car I’ve never really been in one that impressed me so never on my radar , falcon is reliable , cheap insurance, cheap parts and go forever I’ve had like 8 falcons so like home to me
