I totally agree with how horrible the doll collectors that hate kids are, toys were designed for kids in the first place! They are meant to be played with. Personally as an adult collector I get a bit more uncomfortable when customizers buy dolls that come with their entire outfit and then customize them completely, but it's fair since they were okay with paying for them and didn't hurt anyone in the process, I just think "damn! I wish I could find something like that in my country!" On a side note, as a Chilean I sometimes misspell things like Barbie as "barby" or monster high as "monster heigh" because I know that what will show up will be cheaper.

Bro your tip to search for things from people who have no clue what they are selling is genius!

Doll collecting is research so true. I’m exclusively a Barbie collector and thrift stores are great, I find many new in boxes. If you are new to collecting set your price limits and stick to it. I won’t pay more than 50 for a Barbie and I have 60 ponytail and mod dolls.

The thrift store is my number one source for dolls and Craigslist as well . I got my first AG from Craigslist.

theres a really nice antique mall near where I live. I can find very nice dolls there for cheep and a lot of time I can find in box dolls. monster high, ever after high, bratz, disney descendants, 80s/ 90s barbies, equestria girls, and jax pacific winxs dolls. some times its a hit or miss but thrift shops and antique shops have alot of cool stuff. garage sales as well.

I just won an auction on eBay where I got 750 pieces of Barbie clothes for $76! I also got 15 Barbies in really great shape to put the clothes on. The dolls were $11. I also look for items in damaged boxes. Those go cheap!

It’s helped me to stop and think about what I’m willing to pay, and to set a bar for the condition I want dolls in. Even for new dolls like RH, I hadn’t thought about what to check for about the quality of how the faces got painted. I’m finding most dolls I really want will eventually show up for the price I want so long as I keep checking for them and hold off buying at more than what I’m willing to pay.

yay loved this video! i don’t live in the us but some of these tips were still helpful! especially the Marketplace ones. Also, a tip for people that are looking for a specific era of barbies: try searching “[year] barbie” with the year written in their backs according to the main body mold they used in that era :) some sellers will try to price them up since they think they’re more “vintage” than they actually are, but it helps a lot if you’re looking for a specific era of dolls!

Wow I just discovered your channel today and I felt this video was made for me. I started collecting toys late last year but actual dolls only on May this year, I have around 20 of them (4 of the are winx dolls paid less than 2€ 😭) yesterday I bought a rainbow high that I wanted so bad but it’s hella expensive here but luckily yesterday was in clearance and I got it for cheaper but I was a bit sad, cause I felt I couldn’t spend that much money anymore on a doll but gurl you give me strength to keeping up with my collection and grew it more. We have plenty of options, but the main ones are Big W (which we lovingly call big dubs), Target, and Kmart. Myer also sell a lot of dolls, and we have Mr Toys’ Toy World, as well as Toy Kingdom (not quite toys r us size but both chains have been around my entire life)

I can do research for hours bur there are countries that don't have dolls second hand. I can get maybe 5 MH dolls, 0 My Scene, 1 Bratz and a few Winx dolls. I searched EVERYWHERE in my country. Ebay is almost useless because shipping to a small country is insane. Dolls in the stores are 2x as expensive than in the US. For example, most LOL dolls are 50$ here and we are poor compared to USA,UK etc.

2nd half I wasn't ready and my message just sent ! Anyway ,I left of at Barbie . I also collected porcelain dolls, starting in middle school! But since then my interest in types of dolls have changed greatly! I have a fairly large collection very much like yours ! I have many different types of dolls/toys but M monster High is my largest ! Maybe even my favorite! I have Ever After, LPS, Brats Babies, no regular Brats only Babies! Let's see , oh wait I did have all the Bratzillaz but so sadly and regretfully I sold them all 3 yrs ago! I was thinking about it a couple weeks ago and I cried actual tears!! Moving on, I can't forget Helo Kitty , those are my biggest collections !! I’m going to start collecting once G3 Monster high hits my locals in the UK. This might be a mere observation but anyone else who lives in England and understand what I mean please let me know. As of recent I’ve started to notice how the shops here such as Asda, Sainsbury’s and Argos are slowly declining in the toy market? There’s definitely a large market but it’s most certainly smaller. I don’t think toys (dolls) in my area get sold often, they’ll be 3 RH dolls per shop here and we don’t have a local Smyths! The closest one is two cities away and it’s definitely not selling as much as it did so it must not just be my local area. I’ve also noticed that a lot of kids in my area don’t really play with toys past the age of 8/9, they get electronics and consoles. And when G1 monster high was selling, boy dolls and bedroom sets were really ‘rare’ for me, they weren’t rare, they just were locally. So my overall observation of my local area (North East) the doll market is definitely smaller and expensive, RH dolls are the most common and I can’t excuse the £50 price when placed in the kids isle🤷🏻‍♀️

I personally never payed more than 30$ for a doll before (the SDCC ofc were a loooot more expensive) and some dolls I can even get for free (like a week ago I got complete Skelita from Monster High with everything for free). Some I buy incomplete and then buy large bundles of accesories and complete them. And we should be aware that we can ask friends and family if their kids can sell us their dolls. We don't have to use internet for hunting.

It totally sucks for me because I can’t buy off of Mercari. They don’t allow shipping to post office boxes. I live in the boonies and my post office doesn’t deliver to our real physical addresses, and only allows post office boxes for us. 😢

Brooke I just got my first couple of rainbow high dolls and I bought Kia vanities doll Speical edition doll for a toal of $73 that's including take and shipping from Amazon. So I know how quick the rainbow high dolls are Being sold out and looking for the Series 1 that are no longer in the store are starting to go up in price online. So I'm looking for the other dolls that I'm needing to complete the colloct of series 1 and 2 before their gone and before series 3 comes out one day.

Dont expect me to give away Custom dolls on mercari or fb etc. 😊 i actually put work into them. I.e cleaning or investing in parts, clothes wigs etc, Especially, when you young ppl do nothing and rack the price up afterwards. Find trash and clean them yourselves

I once saw 'Duchess Emma' Barbie doll (out of box) for 20$. why i didn't buy her- i don't know (i think i kinda felt it was too good to be true)... but she was listed as 'barbie in blue dress' or something like that- meaning the seller had no clue she's a collectors doll and quit expensive at that. whoever bought her probably didn't believe their luck. but i have to say- it's rare (at least for me) to find clueless sellers who sell what i want, maybe it's coz i picky.
