After i watched this video, I took the time to ask my inner self "If theres anything you want to say, im here to listen". My inner self immediately went back to my childhood where I experienced crushing loneliness that was long forgotten. I cried like ive never cried before. I feel grateful to have found your video

@2:56 I know that feeling so well. I say I'm not going to smoke, then get depressed and unable to focus on anything. So I pick up, roll and smoke and then feel so guilty for having broken my promise to myself that I can't enjoy it. Sometimes the critic is the child, or the teenager. I also have a "cynical old bloke" persona who is least helpful of all. It's just bits of me and also people I've met. I really think I am going to crack it this year.

I invited my inner critic once to sit with me around the table. I was surprised by how small he was. It immediately became clear to me that he was scared and that all he did, was trying to protect me from getting hurt. I remember thanking him for that and even encouraging him to keep doing that, but also told him that I'd start ignoring his advice more often. In the end it felt as if I was doing that for him, not for me, so that he could see his fear was unnecessary. These things happen when you take the time to sit still for a while. Great video, will surely watch more 💪.

I can relate to this so much. My younger self didn’t care about any of this self-improvement stuff actually I was unaware it was even a thing, so of course now as an adult that part of me doesn’t want to do any of it

Adding a comment for the algorithm. Honestly, we need to see procrastination etc as an issue relating to emotional regulation, rather than knowing what to do. Really looking forward to hearing about how you connected with yourself, as that is seemingly mostly covered from a woo woo perspective. Thanks for this inspiring intro, looking forward to hearing more.

Hey, bro! How are you doing? It's been over a while since we last talked. And I'm sorry that I haven't talked to you in over a while. I've been very busy by going to work and my job keeps me very busy but I do get days off which is awesome because I like having some time off, going to the clinic and taking therapy and my therapist is funny as hell and makes me feel better about myself, talking to my psychiatrist and having him prescribe my meds, I just started taking mindfulness/meditation classes and also watching meditation videos and they're all great, and I'm also talking to a peer and he's awesome like you are! Btw, I went to your KZfaq channel to see if you did anymore videos after this one. Sorry about that!

I'm now mentally depressed, drained and exhausted from the constant cycle of relapses and doubting myself, denouncing nofap, and coming back to it thinking that "this is it, this time I will truly make it to x amount of days" then eventually the urge chased up and took me down, is not just about will power, i find that I lack a lot of motivation, there's this point where I don't even know what am I doing in my life, is it worth it to quit my bad habits? Are they really affecting me? Should I continue going to gym. I'm really tired.

I get that. My inner teenager wants to watch porn all the time, but I agreed with him that if he helps me quit, I will explore my sexuality in better ways. He loves that plan haha Do you still want to quit porn or have you decided to keep it around?

@@OliverCowlishaw I tried to quit porn in the past, but failed. I also failed on even finding opportunities for relationships, so I default to my porn habits given that situation. I know it is not ideal, but honestly I prefer to release myself to then develop myself on other areas different from a partner or relationships.
@OliverCowlishaw
@OliverCowlishaw Жыл бұрын
It makes complete sense that you would default to porn habits if your intimacy needs aren't being met in your life. A concern though is that the more you rely on porn for your intimacy needs, the harder it is to find opportunities for relationships. It's like a vicious cycle. It sounds to me like you've given up on changing your relationship situation and resigned yourself to using porn as a coping mechanism. Your life is yours to live so whatever you want to do is your decision. But if there's a part of you that's curious about changing your relationship situation, please reach out to me. I'd love to see if I could help you because I know how hard it can be (trust me) when you have no dating opportunities. Pop me an email over at ocowlishaw@gmail.com If not, no problem.
