I admire those who know how to cut their own hair. It was my mother who cut my hair, but I moved and I don't like the idea of having my hair cut in a salon. I want to learn how to do this myself.

She's doing it, right? i learned that protractor technique in Cosmetology School back in the 80s, it's basic 101 for layering your hair. This angle will give you your longest layers by holding it at a 180-degree angle..👍✌️

It would depend on the length of the hair and the type of layering, too many layers and the longest parts will look straggly, too few and it can be hard to blend without the extra weight, even the colour makes a big difference. Best to get an in person consulation with a stylist to see if its suitable for your hair. I have layers but I have dense fine hair, if you have thin fine hair then the same style wouldnt really work

Okay my problem with using this technique on myself... When i tried it for the first time, it came out perfect. But whenever I try to cut my ends keeping the layers in, the longest layers will fall out end then they're just way too much longer then the other layers and I have to cut them separately, because if I wanted to cut enough so they wouldn't fall out as they're overdirected upwards, I'd be loosing too much length every time I cut my ends. If that makes any sense 😂😂

Thise are not layers, it is a cascade haircut. Layers are disconnected...like the front part...

as a phd this is how i do my own. bit of advice dont cut past the 2nd knuckle as it will result in an uneven cut and u could lose that knuckle:)
