Thank you. I learned something new today. I knew about cutting at the 5 leafs but didn't know about watching for which direction it was facing. Great tip. Just in time. Dead heading my roses is on my to do list for this week. Love watching your videos. Your a great speaker and speak clear and at a nice speed that I can listen to it all without having to keep replaying it. Thanks again.

I have grown roses for years and when I first started the instructions in all the books about how to cut back and the angles were so confusing....you gave the best and easiest to understand instructions that I have heard...it's so simple and so many people make the explanation for too complicated....this is super for new Rosarians to follow

This was so helpful. There are two established roses at my new home. I had to cut back one of them in the spring. I couldn’t stand by and look at it all roped up and over grown! It’s doing great. The other one bloomed beautifully. I wasn’t sure what to do. Now I know exactly what to do! Thank you!! 😊

Laura, that was amazing, thank you! Common sense and I really have these amazing moments of AHA! when someone, such as yourself, comes along and explains something so well that I can't help but to make sense of the obvious 😅. I mean, cut the stem back at a set of 5 leaves (knew that, and doing that) that are growing outward instead of into the center of the plant. 🤔😊🤭 ....and there it is... Aha! Don't hesitate to make videos that you think everyone already knows. Being open to learn different ways to do something you could do in your sleep is just as important as learning something new.

I used to love deadheading roses in the summer. Not just because of how easy it is, the satisfaction of a clean rose bush look with fresh blooms, but the fragrance that would surround me while going from rose to rose! With the warm air... it was one of my favorite gardening chores! Except once, when I disturbed a wasp's nest and got stung, a LOT! but yeah... this video brought all of that back 🥰 beautiful to see your varieties blooming in this single video, thank you 💞

Oh, how I love roses. Alas, here in the South they are very high maintenance. Our high humidity really affects them - lots of fungal diseases (black spot) and the japanese beetles will desimate them overnight. So much work, but oh they are so lovely and fragrant. Every year I say nope ... every year I buy another (or two, or three) ... but that's what we gardeners do - we keep trying !!

I have been a horticulturist for almost 20 years and 10 of those years worked for a specialist rose grower. I watched one of your rose pruning videos a couple of months ago and had never heard of 5 leaf pruning! I knew about outward facing buds and angling the cut etc, but I decided to try it on my own roses and also my clients roses. What a difference! The flowering is so much more profuse. I was always taught to cut a lot of the stem off (50%) but now I prune just below the hip (to a 5 leaf) and difference is amazing!

Since my husband and Father both passed away last October and November, I've sort of been a lost soul. Last winter was weird to say the least. I have always loved gardening but have never had the know how to be very successful. This spring I came across your KZfaq channel searching for peony advice and I just want to say, I became an instant fan! I adore you and your sweet family. I have been watching your videos daily. I love that you repeat yourself a lot. It really helps me remember all the things. You have been such an inspiration to me during a truly difficult time. Thanks so much! That being said, I am curious, are rhododendrons something you don't grow in your area? Deadheading those things is such a chore. What about azaleas and camellias too? I never see those in your garden tours.
