How I Draw Danganronpa Splash Art (Komatsuzaki Style)

Күн бұрынHi there! This is a process video/speed paint, detailing things I think about when drawing and my observations of Danganronpa (Komatsuzaki style) art. I talk all over the place and a lot of my sentences sound like questions, so please forgive me if I sound confusing or repetitive! Please turn on subtitles so it's easier to understand. This is my first video, and any criticism or feedback is super appreciated. Thank you for watching!
EDIT: at 19:19, I say there are no fingernails on Danganronpa characters, but there's two exceptions I forgot: Junko and Celeste! So use them for reference with characters who have painted nails!

FINALLY THE TUTORIAL I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR- How tf does this only have 3k views I honestly thought there'd be way more,Komatsuzakis splash style is a hard one to imitate,but you do it perfectly,heck if I saw this next to say Kyokos splash,I'd assume they were by the same artist!Amazing job and very good tutorial overall,I definitely have a better understanding of how to go about this style in the future!

i think sprites are drawn by different artists, so there might be a style difference there. even so, all the designs and splash art are made by komatsuzaki. hope this helps!

The art also works in the context of the original version of Danganronpa:Rebirth because her Ultimate Title in the original is the Ultimate Spy.

gothicgm I didn’t know about Death Come True until this video, so thank you for introducing me to it! I like the more realistic take on his more anime-like artstyle for Danganronpa, especially the noses. Really striking!

Woah.. I needed this, Ive been drawing since around 2015, and my skill has gotten pretty good, but I’m creating a Danganronpa FanGame with my friends and we have made the characters but not splash arts, so this is really what I needed (I’m kinda still a beginner, I can’t draw poses very good and it takes me lots of time but I’m good on shading and drawing folds on clothes and stuff. Perspective is something I need to really improve on-)

I guess one piece of advice is to use a ton of reference! you'll get better with more practice so just draw more. good luck with you fangame!!

19:19 Sorry, you said there's one exception, but actually there's two exceptions.. It was Celestia, she has black nails and it's not to visible at her splash art, but you can see it clearly at her shocked looking sprite. Idk if this fact is helpful.. Btw, thanks for the tutorial, it helps a lot!

which art software do you think works best for replicating the danganronpa style?

I think art software doesn't actually matter. what's important is to pick one and continually practice using it, you want to be good enough where basic functions are fast and easy. but most artists who draw in this style use paint tool sai, I think. hope this helps!
