do you struggle with overstimulation? how does it affect you? how have you taken back your life from the overstimulation of the "attention economy"?

I enjoyed and implemented digital minimalism both for a month after reading Cal’s book and when I took a sabbath from social media for 2 years- it was so wonderful and I totally know what you mean about the creativity coming out of the vacuum; it’s when I started a KZfaq channel. Also the freedom app is great to set boundaries on your smartphone. Would love to know how you use apps like Instagram without losing peace 😊

This might be really controversial but I notice I can handle a couple days of social media and that’s it. I’m off most of the month but I just get too weighed down. It feels like I have constant white noise on when I’m on social and it just doesn’t sit well with me. So for this season I’m taking lots of breaks and might even be off IG until next year. We will see. I took a break last year for 6 months and it was so healing for me!

I'm pursuing peace and calm through simplification of my home, homeschool, and obligations. Not to mention significantly cutting down on screens for myself and my children.

Definately, I hit rock bottom in severe burnout 6 months ago and I'm still not back to normal (I might never be). Tunnel vision, dizziness and body going numb, paralyzed on the sofa. The thing is that there always "just one more thing" you can do. Check one more thing, scroll just a little more and so on.

Madi- I discovered your channel a little over a year ago and it literally changed my life. You introduced me to minimalism and slow living. At the time I was an overwhelmed mom of five, anxious and depressed. I was knee deep in toys, clothes, extracurriculars, our lives dictated by the school system. My world and mind was cluttered and I was at my breaking point. I was surviving, not thriving. I started picking away at my life from social media, getting a light phone, minimizing our belongings and wardrobes, cutting out extracurriculars and slowing down. We have since pulled our kids from school to homeschool, I can manage my home and I finally enjoy and rest in our space. Our days are filled with what makes us happy. My mind is free, happy, content and my walk with the Lord is stronger than ever without all of the distractions. Our life is slow and restful and I didn't think it was possible. You guided me to change it all and I owe you a HUGE thank you. Edit: I just noticed you’ve hit 100k. YOU EARNED IT! Keep doing what you’re doing 👏👏

I have ADHD and that was my catalyst for embracing minimalism. I was all over the place. I decluttered about 75% of my stuff and got off social media (I’m older so that was just Facebook for me, I didn’t have anything else) I feel so much better. I can focus again and actually enjoy my life now.

I think theres alot of self diagnosing of ADHD on social media (not saying this is you) and its just actually that many are so over stimulated and cant focus, not that they have any actual disorder. Its interesting that that you have found minimalism had helped with your ADHD, thanks for sharing

Older mom here. I am thankful I was able to raise my children in a mostly non-social media world. I see what you young mommas are dealing with and it's so disheartening. Go silent for a few days. See what's it's like to be free. We need more time off the Internet. ❤ Thank you so much for your efforts for young women and moms everywhere.

I just did a month digital minimalism challenge where my family completely canceled internet. It was a beautiful detox! (It also didn't solve all my problems.) Coming back on to internet and KZfaq, I've decluttered my susbscriptions down to 12, with about half of those beinf videos I would catch up on regularly. I'm going to try allotting a timeframe weekly to catch up on all the videos instead of grazing throughout the day(s).

Aww Madi... I started to realize that this world wants us to feel as if our" being humans " gets in our way of our productivity. We don't run on unlimited resources, starting with our own time... This alone was a powerful reminder to me to slow down.😊

This morning I was feeling so overwhelmed. Scheduling all the play dates, making the homemade from scratch snacks, cleaning, meal planning, checking my phone every few minutes. I resonate so deeply with the feeling of not even hearing my own voice sometimes! You’ve inspired me to delete all optional media from my phone for 30 days and to start single tasking. I will try and remember to come back and reply once I’ve finished to see how much it’s changed how I’m feeling!

I think for young moms it is important to start this life of slow living and a peaceful, simple life now, if that is what you deem as important. Im a mom to 8 and I think the baby and toddler years can help aid in slow living . I believe this because you have all the power of decisions to stay home and not over commit to activities because they are young and you can guide and teach them to understand that this way of life is valuable to their mental wellbeing. Now that I have children ranging from adulthood down to early school age I find it very difficult in this season with slow living , so many people going in so many different directions as well as young adults dealing with anxiety and depression and feeling like im reparenting adults. So what im saying is having little ones is a beautiful season to train them in slow living.

So I finally read the book Essentialisum and in it he talks about how so many amazing ideas came from people disconnecting and being in total quite for days sometime, and in that finding the next best path to go down and a calm awareness of what's essential in our own individual lives. Disconnecting is the way!

I have been off of social media (Facebook and Instagram) for almost 4yrs. I cannot begin to explain how much it’s changed my life, and relationships… I am probably around the same age as you(33). I have been homeschooling my son and daughter for 3yrs and knew I couldn’t have the constant distraction/and availability to everyone. We are a low screen family.. we don’t have iPads, tablets, video games etc… but I really want to get rid of our tvs!! Just getting my husband on board. I know he works hard all day so it is a way for him to unwind… I just know personally how much better I sleep when I’m not watching tv up until then. We only have so much time.. how we spend our days, hours… is how we spend our lives. It matters!! I keep praying more people would wake up and see how much time is wasted on these things. Love your channel Madi. You keep me inspired when I feel like I am going against the rest of the world/our culture. I wish more people like you lived around me!

I just love your videos Madi, they always remember me to do less and im in that point of "how i make more space to actually do the things that i'm called for" in those moments that i see around and all i see is caos i just remember something that i believe the Holy spirit told me... do one thing that you know how to... its not exactly the phrase but in context of tidy up... just pick one thing it's out of place and start with that and keep doing "the easy" things like you know if something is in the kitchen but belongs to the bedroom or stuff like that and it's easier then i get in the flow and get one room done 💖 God bless you Madi

Always such a banger Madi! I have slowly started to quiet the noise around me by watching less, listening to less and really trying to hear my own thoughts and ideas. I think we really do easily look outside ourselves and in others for solutions and ideas on how to live. However, you’re one person whom I really do receive value from and your advice is just the whispering little compass I need. ❤️ Love your content always, keep it coming.

Hearing this, was what I really needed now. ❤️ i’m also at home, with our 4 children, homeschooling, enjoying just being outside in the yard or going to beautiful nearby places. But still our home always feels overwhelming to me, like im drowning in the work to keep up with the constant mess and washing dirty clothes etc. And now with the 5th on the way, this feeling really weighs down on me. How am i going to keep up with all the work and enjoy our time together more? Its such a precious time when you have small children and my oldest is already a teenager! Life goes by so fast

Hey Madisun! I hope you and your family are doing well today and that you are enjoying your third pregnancy! I like that question of who are we before the world told you who to be? That's good! It is fun to have thought provoking questions in your head to work through. I am glad that you said that we have to say, "no" to someone. My mom is someone who overpacks her schedule and is worn out and I keep telling her to stop making so many plans and to rest. I have a pretty easy going and simple schedule because I know where to say, "no" and when to say, "yes." It hurts to hear that people find minimalism to be extreme, but I suppose they really do. It shocks them to think about getting to that spot. A woman told me the other day I would hate to go to her place because she has so much stuff and I told her, "Why? It's your journey. If you have stuff, that is for you to either enjoy or work through, not mine. If I had lots of stuff in my home, that is what would make me go crazy. However, if you ever need a decluttering life coach. . .you know where to go." She said, "Oh I might take you up on that eventually!" Do you have that happening to you too? It is not the first time I have heard people say that they are afraid for me to go to their home because they have seen how little I have and how clean my home is and they know their home is not in that way. It makes me sad that they feel that I am going to look down on them. -JusticePirate/Victoria

I need tips/help to stop shopping! I’m a decorator and as a result, I’m constantly changing my decor! “Tweaking” everything in my house and my yard/patio. I need to STOP! 😢😢😢
@The_Apollo_Show

I guess it’s Different for everyone, but something I do is only buy things that I actually need. And I also limit my options, for example with my wardrobe I only buy items that are the 5 colours I have chosen - black , white and three other colours. This means I only need one black handbag for example and it goes with everything. The aesthetics of my home are really important to me, but I try to keep it minimal and again I will only have a few different colours in each room To make things easier. So if redecorating is something that brings you joy and helps you to feel happy and safe in your home space then I would say that is something worth spending money on, But just try to keep it minimal. I don’t know if any of that helps!

There was also a video I watched recently where a woman had an empty toilet roll and a pom-pom, and she said every time you buy something you are dropping a pom-pom to the toilet roll - It’s a bottomless pit. The satisfaction and happiness that you get from buying Things fades quite quickly and you need to buy something else to fill the gap or make it perfect. I watched another one of Madisuns videos and this is why she went with The ten item wardrobe because she was constantly buying clothes, feeling that if she could just buy one more item then her wardrobe would be finally complete, but it never was.

@@The_Apollo_Show thanks for your input! I’m really working on all of this. I’m realizing that constantly redoing my house and “tweaking” has become a bit of an obsession! Idol 😮! Never quite finished! Robbing me of my time and money. I’m trying to make hard decisions now about how to eliminate so much of my “inventory”. (Suggestions appreciated) because of the overwhelming task of having a garage sale is just that, overwhelming! Likewise, placing individual items on Facebook marketplace has its issues as well. That leaves donating. I’m struggling there because some of my things are valuable, or have been expensive. I am , however, getting my boxes, filling them with things that I know I can live without! The struggle is real here!! 😜😜 Thanks again ❣️

I was wondering if you have any tips to use instagram and KZfaq and other social media, as a business owner - when you don’t really want to use it? I struggle a bit with this, as I have a business, but I don’t enjoy social media and the effect it has on people 🫶🏻. I want to simplify and slow down, and eliminate the information overload that social media brings. But I also want a thriving business, because it will lead me to do what I love 🙄. I see you have a instagram as well, so I was just wondering what your thoughts may be 😊
