Check out my Free Illustration Mini Workshop where I share my journey from Amateur to Pro: www.thedrawingcodex.com/illus...
You will get some simple advice on how to get more detail and polish in your work. How to think about composition. And my thoughts on how to prepare for professional work.
Let's talk about the way Warm and Cool Colors can be used in your art! More specifically how understanding the concept of Warm and Cool in Color Theory helped my art to get better over the years.
This is a journey though my development in understanding color theory and trying to avoid my images looking muddy and lacking contrast.
Below is an Automagically generated summary to help understand the video and aid search optimisation: (I think it does a pretty good job of summing things up, despite sounding a bit generic)
----
Overcoming the challenge of muddy colors in artwork begins with a solid understanding of warm and cool contrasts. Initially, my work suffered from a lack of vibrant colors, often appearing gray and mushy. However, as I progressed in my career, mastering the concept of temperature contrasts in colors became a game changer.
This video shares insights into my journey with color theory, specifically the use of warm and cool tones to enhance contrast and prevent artwork from looking flat. You'll see examples of both successes and failures that have shaped my approach to creating more dynamic and interesting illustrations.
We'll delve into practical strategies for avoiding low contrast, muddy images, and explore how shifting the temperature of colors can dramatically affect the perception of depth and focus in a scene. This session is designed as a casual, informative drawing lesson where we explore these concepts in depth, aiming to enrich your understanding and application of color in your own art. Join me as we unpack the complexities of color theory and its pivotal role in crafting visually compelling art.

As someone who is early in their career and still struggling with color theory, all your videos are an absolute god send

Super useful, and a very pragmatic way of thinking about color theory. This advice was incredibly helpful when I was trying to seperate the various elements in each panel, and it helped a lot in drawing the audience's attention towards the focal point, without desaturating the color (and interest) from the composition. Thank you

Its funny how switching the world "saturation" with "temperature" made such a big difference to my understanding of colour separation. It really makes a bunch more sense for me now. Thanks so much!

Great video again man. Finding this channel has been a god send for me. So many of the talking points seem like they were made just for me 😀. Tonnes of questions and doubts were just made clear and helped me get some proper focus. I am interested in buying the courses on the drawing codex, but just wondering about the purchase structure. When buying, do you get videos and files to download, or are they streaming only with a link provided? Cheers

I would love a video discussing breaking a script down into pages and panels. I am currently working on a 32pg. Comic and I had a hard time deciding how much information should be on a page and how many panels should I divide that up into.
