Let me know if there's anything I didn't explain well enough, or at all, that I could potentially dive into deeper with another video.
Lethamyr's Rings Maps
* Neon Heights Rings - lethamyr.com/mymaps/neon-heig...
* Ice Rings - lethamyr.com/mymaps/ice-rings
These can also be found in the Steam workshop, if you're using Steam.

noobies always explain things better than experienced people because the new player pitfalls are more recent. "familiarity breeds contempt" people that have been playing for years have an idea, but they are so far along that theyve lost sight of being new.

It feels obvious in hindsight but I never considered just.. choosing a single direction at a time and getting used to it. At this point I'm mildly used to it just from natural play but I feel that this is gonna really help me hone it in. Great vid, thanks for the tips!

This was much more helpful than just trying to remember what direction does what to your car. I was skirting around the idea of trying to only steer when my car hood was facing me, but never really got it down. Breaking it down and starting by "pressing only up" made such a difference in how I mentally decide how to control the car. Even while trying to press only up, I started to use other directions on the stick to control the car subconsciously. Thanks.

This is the exact way it clicked for me too. I realized that up and to the right (air roll left) didn't actually turn right or down and to the right didn't turn left like so many tutorials mentioned. It's all about the orientation of your car. I started by pressing down on the joystick when I saw the top of the car. Then I started pressing down when I saw the bottom of the car. When I could fly consistently I started practicing pressing up. This is not a quick process and your brain will twist into knots because the car is spinning. Start by practicing one direction when your car is in one position. Then build onto that slowly.

This tutorial was super helpful, definitely the best out there for someone transitioning from free using air roll. As someone who has used feee air roll for at least 400 hours I was so confused when trying out directional air roll and wanted to give up trying to learn it. After trying the method of only taping up on the joystick to start I am finally starting to get a hang of it after a few hours of training and can do the first couple levels on the rings course now. Thank you.

@daurdaurik5

That's the way I learned it actually, I started with down input, which was a mistake because in more scenarios it's a lot more helpful to use up input in the beginning. Then I tried with tornado spin and combine these two, and then I tried to use the up input. I think this is the best way because you learn where the car goes, you start to understand that the nose of your car goes this way, and stop thinking that you need the car in a specific position to go right or left. I'm a keyboard player and the reverse tornado spin it's a little difficult to use because my air roll is in the q but 1 month later I use a lot of the other keys. When your brain does the click, it's exponential, you start to see it with another view. Thank you a lot for the video, it's a shame I didn't see it before to learn.

Keep it up and stay committed and you’ll get there

This video is a bit more in depth, but you explained the jist of it in 1 minute at most.

The way I do it is I tap the normal direction when i see the roof. If I want to exaggerate that input, I flick across to the opposite side of the stick. e.g. Bottom left to Top right. So it becomes Normal-flick, Normal-flick, Normal-flick. No need to reverse the inputs in your head since the flick is just habit.

Took me a second, but I think I understand what you mean. I call this “rolling adjustments”, where to continue the turn in the same direction as you first pressed, you roll your stick in the same direction as your air roll. @@potatoheart4428 Well if I remember the first time i watched this video the first thing that meant something for me was tilting my stick forward when my car was and it worked and i hadn't realised this because I didnt realise air roll was just tilting your car I thought it completely changed what your inputs do (resulting in a lot of crashes lol) so when i realised that it was pretty easy to start learning all the directions so id say it took about a few days(up to a week) for me to be confidently able to keep my car up while consistantly air rolling (using only forward movements btw) so then i learnt all the movements bit by bit and started using air roll on mechanics i had already learnt like air dribble and it helped me consistantly do those mechanics so much better. I would change one thing, because it caused me to get stuck at a point in learning it. When you said ONLY to adjust with the joystick up when the car hood is facing you. I think that causes you to get stuck on ONLY adjusting when the car is facing you for a long time. since you, ofc get used to it, and it is SOOO hard to get used to also adjusting when the car ISNT facing you, AKA when you see the underside of the car. I think for starters ofc its better to only adjust with the up joystick, but I think ONLY when the car hood is facing you, is a mistake. otherwise it helped me a lot, thanks!

A great way to learn air rolling fast is to do neon rings or medival rings 2-3 first levels while boosting CONSTANTLY. This will make it so that you don't need to think about it and you just learn to instinctively steer the car in all positions. I learned both directions within a month pretty well and have been polishing the skills after that. Fully boosting requires very precise adjustments and you dont have time to do any "extra" spins to buy time or to wait until the car is in a familiar position. In fact, you dont even have time to analytically think about what you are doing. You will fail thousands of times but you will learn fast compared to going "slow and safely".
