Hello I am a Year 12 student studying 4 A-Levels. I did GCSE Spanish (AQA) and scored a grade 9 and hope to score A* in A-Level. I am studying the book La Casa De Bernada Alba and the movie Volver with the AQA exam board.

Hi, thanks so much- great video! I was just wondering how do you aim to sound less robotic, I know you can add "pues" & filler words like you mentioned but would that be enough? Also when is best to ask the examiner the question during the general convo? Should you say it at the start or will they prompt you towards the end? Thank youu!!

I'd always ask the question earlier rather than later, and you can ask more than one, if you want the examiner to speak a little and give you time to breathe!

Hello! Well done for your mark in your speaking - that's amazing and thanks for the really useful video :) In the photocard, is the development having opinions and justifications or just saying enough about what they ask? Also, for the general conversation, what are some good phrases to memorise that can fit basically any question which will increase the marks for range and accuracy/communication please? so for the photocard, good development is using a wide variety of tenses and using justified opinions (using porque, dado que and ya que) and for the conversation, conditional and subjunctive phrases are very handy such as: si tuviera mas dinero/tiempo, si pudiera…, and cuando sea mayor etc.

Really helpful, My exam is on Friday. Do you have any verbs or phrases that I should memorise (other than ones you listed in the video and the other comments). Also, I am thinking of learning the pluperfect tense or even just memorising a few phrases for it. Would you recommend this and are there any pluperfect phrases you think I should learn?

you don’t know what your photo card will be as there’s multiple created for each theme, but what I will tell you is that most people this year have picked theme 2! anyway good luck!!

Learning them will defo take time, just get cracking. (Maybe use acronyms/mnemonics to help?)

Hey bro, i had my spanish igcse reading exam yesterday and for one of the sections it said to put at x in the right box to indicate your response but i ticked the right respnse instead. Is it fine or will they care? Thanks

Hey, you should be okay to be fair, you wouldn't have been the only student to make that mistake and hopefully they can accomodate for that (depends if it's computer marked or not)

Is roughly 2 sentences per question in the general conversation enough?

yeah 2 medium length sentences is what I recommend!

How many tense do you need for the 16 marker and 32 marker respectively to get the highest marks? Btw just found your channel, thank you for these videos!

I would say, aim for 3-4 tenses overall for each question. Mainly present, preterite, imperfect and future/conditional. To add more complexity you could use the subjunctive too!

what do you mean about picking themes? my teacher told me that theme 3 is compulsory but then either theme 1 or 2 will come up for general conversation.

yeah so in that case your teacher has picked theme 3 for you/your whole class! which some teachers do and is fine! so technically as a student you’ve chosen theme 3 for your conversation!

how many details do you have to give for each question your teacher asks you in the general conversation? also how many details per bullet point do you give in the photocard?

For each GC response, I'd aim for a solid 2 sentences, but of course this will vary so much. Just try your best to respond in a detailed way where possible. But of course for answers you've pre-memorised you should have good quality and quantity there! And photocard, each of the 3 prepared questions - aim for again solid 2 sentences (less so on the unprepared questions).

@@aaryaiscooler i asked a similar question to my teacher. im a yr 11 student btw and i do WJEC Eduqas for my spanish GCSE. She said it depends on how much you speak. With your chosen theme, i was told they have to ask at least one question in every tense (past, presemt, future). With the other themes, not entirely sure but i think your teacher will mainly focus on your picked theme over anything else but to be safe, in my yr 10 mocks my teacher did ask a few questions from another theme bc i had enough time left. just dont speak too slowly or too quickly and make sure to add some type of complex sentence for marks. sorry this is after your mock!

@@77714 yeah I did! for AQA you can pick one theme for the conversation questions (the theme u pick u won’t be in ur photocard) while the other theme will be a surprise. For the roleplay it can be any 3 themes. I didn’t get theme 2 for any of my speaking which was a bit weird
