Fun story. So teachers always told me if you need a break just leave. So we we’re in a math class and we had a new playground that year, and we had windows right outside facing the park we’re kids were playing and we all were looking and a few kids were whispering about it. The teacher who we shall call… Dorthy, she’s in her early 30’s and this is her first year teaching and she says to the class “if you want to interpret my class than leave” so I stood up walked out sat in the hall on my phone. She came out and got me asked if I was all right I came back in. afterwards this was my friends perspective. “Dorthy” leaves the room suddenly kids start standing up everyone’s heading towards the door it’s crowded only like five kids out of thirty sitting. Some have coats on hats. When they hear the classic heels and my friend said there was a stampede back to there desks knocking over chairs they made it somehow not sure wizards. And that was the day I almost got my teacher fired 😅 I was the talk of the school for quite a while for being “brave” it was more just stupidity and frustration and the slightest of guts

I had a 3 hour Economy class that made me want to die. I passed the time by playing chess on a notebook with my brother, erasing and drawing pieces.

“I hate math. I can do it, but I hate it.” *I felt that on a hella personal level*

I mentally skipped every class i could. LOVED it. I was basically homeschooled. My parents helped me with math aznd the rest was mainly reading and answering worthless questions. I think of adopting a child, or multiple, and the basics are required, but they will learn what they WANT, other than that.

The one time I ditched class was when I was feeling too anxious to go to a certain class. So I just hid in a bathroom stall until the end of the day.

Student: hey can I ditch class? Teacher: I dunno CAN YOU?? Student: Yes. (runs away)

I’m in algebra 2 right now (as a sophomore) and I can completely relate to being good at math but not liking it. I mean let’s be honest, that’s pretty much how everyone feels about math whether they’re good at it or not. Ironically, we also have this kid in that class who will just discreetly leave and then come back like half an hour later and I guess the teacher just hasn’t noticed this pattern yet even though he’s been doing it for the whole semester.

My lifeline through the high school slog was art. Filled roughly four sketchbooks per year, and the teachers hated me for it. I was one of those students who could just listen to background drone, and get the gist of it. Head always stuck in a sketchbook. I was content with that, scraping along at the bare minimum. The hourly passing period breaks to go smoke probably didn't help. Heheh. But I made it through! Launched myself into art college with a HUGE work portfolio, and I think that's enough to be proud of. ^_^

When I was in 8th Grade I ditched P.E. Class by hiding in the Bathroom and just read comic books and using my iPhone with headphones

My friggin math teacher for 3 years did the same thing (I go to a private school so I had the same math teacher for a couple years). She was always writing on the board and saying a bunch of knowledge crap then not restating it. I didn’t do well in that class...

So, actual factual Middle School teacher here- this is less for Adam and more for anyone that might actually be in school right now. If you've got a real problem with paying attention in class, speak up! Schools these days have plenty of resources to help students that might have issues with paying attention. In my class, I try to encourage students to find ways to learn that's good for them- you like to doodle in your notes, fine, make comics about Ancient Rome in the margins. (I teach World History) You're nodding off, I gotchu- get some water, if you need to stand or stretch your legs, fine. And if you think your teacher might not be understanding (please remember, we probably will be- it is our job, after all) talk to your school guidance counselor, that's literally what they're there for.

I once locked myself in a bathroom stall with my laptop and earbuds and just watched KZfaq in seventh grade for the entirety of my 100 minute language lesson to avoid the speech assessment (I'm fine with public speaking but for some reason I just reeeaaally didn't want to do it that day). We got a new teacher in that class and eventually she made me do it but just to her and I still got a B+. :D Another time I was doing a photography thing for a media class and we had a sub who was actually really nice and I asked her if I could take one of the iPods to go take some pictures (even though I already had all the pictures I needed) and she said sure so I just walked around the school for a bit before coming back and discreetly grabbing my laptop and earbuds to lock myself in the same stall and proceeded watch KZfaq for like half an hour before coming back. Best bit was that she was totally cool about it like she didn't ask why I took so long or anything she was just fine with it. Good job me!

I feel bad. You have no clue how many times that has happened to me in the car on the frikin highway. From ages 7-12 I have been in that situation, just way worse. Now I'm 13 and can deal with it easier. I find this situation that you have described more terrifying than it probably should have been. I relate to this on a personal level.

I never thought to do this until I saw this video. I've gotten out of running laps in gym class so many times like this.

I also have supervisors EVERYWHERE - but if they see you skipping they won’t question you and ignore you.

On the first day of my Sophomore year my chemistry teacher noticed that we were not really paying attention and asked the class what he should do to get our attention. Somewhere along the line lighting the table on fire was mentioned so he asked if thats what he should do. The majority vote said yes and he pulled out a jug of flammable alcohol, asked the students to move away from the table (the top of it is fire proof bty) pored it onto the table, and lit it with a lighter. He also took the time to explain how it works (ie: the condensation and combustion) and there was water left in its place. No one got hurt which is good All in all it was a very interesting first day

I've actually never skipped class before. I only did public school in grades Pre-k through 2nd grade, then I decided "Hey, I wanna try homeschooling..." And I'm still being homeschooled to this day (and I'm in 7th grade)

Yeah I'm like Adam here, I have ADD and I can't learn from just watching the teachers write constantly and not showing the work... so I got kicked out of classes and passed my exams because I was in the library and I learned better in the library then the classes. And bonus story time... I was the only person in my course that passed the exams. Not A+ but I was the highest scoring person in my year.
