today I'm sharing with you how I got into LSE, King's College London, Unversity of Bristol and University of Edinbugh, as well as some of my advice for UK university applications. I applied to all of these schools (and Oxford rip) for Law and as an international student. I hope this video is helpful for all of you doing college/uni applications this fall. Good luck to all of you applying. Remember to work hard, stay focused, and most of all, be positive! The process can be extremely challenging but is ultimately very rewarding.

your referee will add your scores to your application! I believe there's a section for them to do so on the application.

most unis will consider A-level/IB marks more. You should consult the websites of the unis you want to apply to or talk with their admissions officers.

Hi, I want to apply to lse, my current a level subjects are Bio Math and Econs. If I get A* for all of them what are my chances of getting in. Should I be doing a level chemistry ? Also if I do as fm do the recognize it even tho it’s not the full a level?

Three a stars is an excellent score! I would look into the requirements for the specific course you're interested in and reach out to LSE admissions with your questions.

Hi! I would recommend looking at a prospectus for the course you're interested in on uni websites and look at application info closer to the date. It would be great if you could find someone who has already completed the application process for those subjects/is currently studying them. Best wishes!

honestly not that important, especially if they're not super related to the course you want to study. I would devote only a few sentences or a very small paragraph to them.

I submitted it in September! I don't know when LSE typically sends their offers, but I received mine in March I think.

I'm not sure since I applied with IB, not AP scores! I would suggest checking on the website of the uni(s) you're interested in applying to.

for most UK university’s it was saying they required 3 ap scores above a 4. In my highschool we have ap classes but there not an important thing so teachers don’t make the classes a big deal. I’ve only been able to take 1 ap class in my junior year and i’m taking another my upcoming senior year. What concerns me is in my whole class no one got above a 3 which is normal for my school. Will this affect me getting into UK school?

Hi Sydney! I would recommend contacting the admissions department at the uni(s) you're interested in. I know they sometimes give contextual offers, with lower grades, based on an applicant's background. University is an investment and an expensive one in a lot of places, unfortunately. UK universities are significantly less expensive than US colleges. If affordability is an issue, I would consider doing some research into private and government scholarships, as well as private loans if that's feasible for your situation.

So do you apply the summer before your senior year or the summer after you’ve finished high school???

depends on when you want to start! If you want to start right after high school, then apply the summer between junior and senior year. If you want to take a gap year, apply once you finish high school (or apply before senior year and defer your application).

I don't mind at all! For my final grades, I received 37 points total, with an A for EE, B for TOK, and completed CAS.

hi! You would apply to uni during year 13 or grade 12. You could apply in the next cycle (September 2021-Jan 2022) if you intend to take a gap year.

I did the IB - my offer was 35 points with 766 at HL if I remember correctly and I was predicted a 39, so yes!

Hi! I didn't do A-levels but I believe people usually do 4 in the first year and 3 in the second. Unis only really require 3 though.

uk Universities considered only 12 grade marks or 9 to 12??

they mostly look at grade 11-12 marks (a-levels or IB_ but also look at gcse grades (9-10 grade) if you have them!

hi! would you still recommend applying if I have a 775 at HL and KCL requires a 766? I also am predicted to have total IB score of 36, which meets the requirement. My 5 is in chemistry (not related to law at all, but it was the only option at my school), but i still have 7s in history and english. my grades are also wonky because of covid...ANYWAYS I just want to know if I should even bother applying or if they will completely overlook my application

Hi Anaum! I would say your best bet is to talk to someone who works in admissions at King's and ask them yourself! If you really love the school and don't mind potentially 'wasting' a space in your UCAS app, I would go for it. Or you can always go through clearing or adjustment during the summer and apply to King's that way!

will depend on the uni! Some ask for specific AP grades, or SAT, or a combination of both. Here is an example from uni of Edinburgh : www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/country/americas/united-states-of-america. I would check with the specific universities you're interested in applying to.

Unfortunately, in many places going to uni can be very expensive (although I don't believe it should be!). Financial contributions from family, scholarships, loans, etc can help cover the cost of studies.

When you said you applied for law even though you want to study politics, what type of politics are you studying? I want a degree in political science and the only reason I'd stay in the US is to study American politics, but what entails a political degree in the UK? :)

In the US, I'm centering my studies on comparative and international politics, as well as the interplay between politics and psychology. That's based on the courses that I've chosen, not required. In terms of politics in the UK that would depend on what uni you choose. I would recommend looking at the sites of unis that you want to apply to and see what modules they offer. I mostly applied to law because I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to politics, which I did in the end!

The UK is a lot more focused on academic performance than on being 'well-rounded,' which is valued in the US. It's always good to show interest in your subject and other things outside of school but admissions will primarily look at grades.

All are great unis! I think Bristol and Durham may be better ranked? Rankings aside, you should consider what you're looking for in a uni and apply to the one(s) that meet your criteria.

The last time I checked, Durham was higher ranked. Edinburgh's course is in Scottish law, so to practice in England you have to do the legal conversion course after, although I'm not sure how it will work now as I know the qualifications for solicitors are changing. However, I have heard great things about Edinburgh from friends who attend!

How do you know if a college is good in a particular course ?

A good place to start is by looking at rankings for that course across different unis. I would also look at the course prospectus. There you can also get a feel if the course is a good fit for you. Maybe also look at student reviews, employer rankings, where grads go to work/further study, etc.

Hi, Thanks for the video! I am in IB as well and have 766 in my HL along with a predicted score of 39 but I have a 1280 SAT (never really got to give it again cuz of COVID) so do you think I should give my SAT score or should I not give my SAT score since I am also applying to kings, bristol, ans also to Manchester and LSE

mmm I believe that if you submit your IB scores you don't necessarily have to submit the SAT score (but double-check this!). Since your IB predicted score is pretty strong, I wouldn't worry too much. If you have a counselor/advisor I would consult with them. Or, you can try to contact UCAS. p.s. I had the same overall predicted score :)
