Absolutely! I cleared about $20,000 in credit card debt when I was in my 30's. I'm now in my 60's and continue to pay my credit cards in full every month. I never charge something I know I can't pay for. I have two credit cards - one I use only online, and one only in person. Last month the total of both bills was over $9,000! 😲 No worries! I had purchased a new riding lawnmower and paid for my new kitchen counters, both of which I had been budgeting for for several years. Having my finances under control is the most liberating feeling in the world.

Hi I paid all my credit card balances around 2018-19. Totally focused on that debt and I did the opposite of what the financial experts say. I paid smaller balances and then put those payments towards the next one. I’m 63 and just paid off on 8/1 my mortgage. Two years ago decided that even if I had to eat tuna fish lol I didn’t have to I would pay it off. I didn’t want to wait 30 years so did it in 25 still to long but done. Ladies and gentlemen it can be done. Good luck now new windows for my house.

I hear you! When I was married my husband would rack up credit card debt on our joint credit cards. When I got divorced I had to tackle that debt and it took a long time. Happy to say I am now debt free except for my mortgage. I use my credit for everything and pay it off as soon as I get the statement. I feel like I am now “using” the credit card company for my own benefit instead of the other way around! I am in complete control and it feels great!

Love this one, Kate! I got into a lot of trouble with credit cards in college and will NEVER use a credit card again. I had to be truly honest with myself and realize that I could NOT be that person who used a credit card responsibly, so I just got rid of all of them. I am still paying off one that I have cut up and closed (with my credit union).

My mother & father never owned a credit card. My Dad born in 1916, a self-disciplined United States marine, was my hero. With 6 children he taught us how to never have debt. With that we never went with out what we needed. A budget was crucial. My mother & father taught us no amount of money in the world can buy a happy heart. The 6 of us have happy hearts. We laugh often and the things that make us the happiest in life are free. 💕💕💕We are truly blessed because of them💕💕

Your parents may never have needed a credit card to do anything. I can't rent a car without one because I don't have a checking account card that can be used as a credit card so..... Also now credit score is used by many businesses so again not having a card makes no sense.

I'm sorry I missed the live event this morning but I was occupied elsewhere. I pay off my cards every month in full. I learned my lesson 30 years ago after running up my cards to the point of bankruptcy. Never again, and I couldn't agree more with Jackie. Never charge more than I can budget to pay off at the end of the month 95% of the time...

Hi Kate, this is one of the best on CC debt! I have not often carried any balance for many years. However, I attended a business upgrade company in 2007. I must have advised the owner..."my cc ends on 7th of each month so I will be at the meeting on the 8th". It was expensive... I paid that on time therefore did not check the following months statement as I had not used my CC. When I did, I had been charged a 2nd time.... i called the owner who apologized profusely and said a credit would be done immediately. Maybe not 😮 When all was said and done... I ended up paying back over $20 000. The owner was criminally charged, business shut down, lives and homes lost. A few years later he is back in business... No matter the protest from local individuals. All it took for him was to mention my month end date...🤑🤑🤑 I'm still standing 😊

I pay the cc's off fully every month. No interest in years. I use cards with rewards so I gain from that, and when i had a big ticket emergency I used one credit card and then within two weeks transferred it to another card that was offering a promotion of no interest for 12 months. Still no interest! And i didn't have to touch my savings just reworked my budget. You can manage emergencies with a little bit of creativity if you look at all your options.

Sorry I missed the premier chat, I was out getting a massive useful stuff only haul from a charity shop, and a fridge freezer from gumtree. Ironically, I paid on my credit card, but that's because I'm buying lots of things for our new home atm which means lots of transactions, and using credit card means only one payment and date to keep track of. And, of course, you know I don't spend more than I already have in my current account. Best reason to miss a frugality video premier ever? I think so! Lol. Anyway, I'll watch it now.

I have been shamed for this, but I have never owned a credit card in my adult life...ever. I've always paid cash, cashier's check, bank money order or used my debit card. I like Dave Ramsey's theory on having no credit. That works for me. But, I want to learn how to earn more as a creative professional. I want to invest. I want to learn more about, money principles like budgeting for when those big opportunities come rushing in. I'm not in any serious debt. I'm just finishing up a tiny dental bill. But, I'm still growing from this channel. Thank you, Kate.♥️♥️♥️

I too have no credit card debt by only spending what can automatically be paid the next month and so only spending money that is real. In my head paying interest on credit card is for mugs, and I'm not one of those! I think the main thing is to only be spending on what I NEED, not what I want, that focuses my mind when spending.

My first credit card in college showed up, I paid the minimum and then the next month I didn't understand why I had interest again when I paid it the previous month. My naïve self didn't know I had to pay interest over... and over... and over on the ENTIRE balance each month until it was at $0. I remember the horror and panic of that feeling. I'm zero credit card now but it took years to pay off because it was used for large home repairs that I had no savings to pay for.

I keep a zero balance credit card also. I am only using it for the cash amount I know that I have available in the bank for the item. Some would question why use a credit card then. I use mine bc one I get an extra 5% off of everything in the store + bonus pounts that turn into cash off the bill. Yeah, a double whammy. The others I get points that turn into dollars off coupons. I recently looked at the interest rates if you fall behind in payments... a whopping 31% interest on one. You will dig a very deep hole...very very quickly...like quicksand....at 31% interest.

I have credit card debt of around 3500 I plan on paying it off in the next three months. Then I will allow myself to spend 50 a month on one and pay off at end of month. After I pay off credit cards taking that money and putting it on car payment which I owe 10,000 which plan on having paid off by end of next year.

I only have a creditcard because other countries only work with creditcard. It only has a balance of 1000 but I always paid off directly the same month. So I would never purchase things I could not pay at the end of the month. I did not even know it was a possibility to not pay off directly every month. I'm used to a debitcard.

Whenever I make a payment on credit card or student loan, it automatically goes to the interest rate! How do I make it pay on the principle rather than the interest?

Hi there! When I'm doing a "principal only" payment, there is a box to click and a box for me to fill in under principal only. I hope you have those options online, if not, I'd give them a call to make sure if only goes toward your principal. I'm so glad you're here! Have an amazing weekend!

Some people can use credit cards responsibly. Others cannot. For the average consumer, they carry over $15,000 in credit card debt, PER CARD. Use one to pay off another. My former husband is in debt up to his hairline. Or was, back when qe we got divorced,in 2004. He was close to,if not over, $2 million in debt. How. Ran up credit card debt, car loans, etc. Lived way above his broke as hell means

No credit card debt. Pay off every month. Use my card to pay bills due to automatic payments and track groceries. I save cash to purchase my clothes.

Not have credit card debt is not a good nor bad thing. She should just admit she makes more than she spends so she has less need to borrow money in the form of credit card debt....

Credit card debt. No longer carry a balance. It's been several years now since I carried a balance, and it feels good getting there! I have been using a credit card with a cash back the past year or so. ALWAYS pay the balance off monthly and have decided even this is too stressful. Credit card is gonna start collecting dust again. Just paid off all the July charges - mostly gas and groceries.
