How I grow & take care of California Wonder peppers in containers 🌱 Life stages of a pepper plant

Today I want to go over to life stages of a pepper plant and how I grow it from seed in the ground or in containers. They're really fun and easy to grow and require very little maintenance. I hope this video helps you in the best way possible to grow some Pepper's of your own!

Can you give them tomato feed instead of miracle grow?

Hi there! I really should do an update and try to connect it to this post. I've changed the soil and nutrients I use. I see a lot of people using Fixzone and I hear it works great, I've never used it personally. I use natures safe granual fertilizer plus added earthworm castings and calcium when needed.. It works a lot better than Miracle grow in my opinion. I stopped using miracle gro because it has a lot of chemicals in it.

Here's a video I did just a few months ago on what I put in my soil before planting.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grFodtRe083Zp40.html... It feeds for a few months (which is vital during the vegetative stage). When my plants get into flowering.. I add a bone meal mix from nature's organics (which is a 566) and earthworm castings. That's really all I use now. I am going to do a video on all of this, when it stops raining, sometime this week. If you need any more help just let me know. I also feed with my fish fertilizer once, every 2 weeks in conjunction with the rest. All the nutrients I use is organic now😊 More produce and much bigger plants this way lol

Late but yes. Tomatoes and peppers both fruit (flower), this requires Phosphorus and Potasium (PK of NitrogenPK) which are both needed to provide amble harvest. Tomato feed usually contains calcium which the pepers will like too. I give my tomatoes and pepers the same feed. I also water them with diluted Epson salt once a month

Just a little fyi for those who don’t know. The primary ingredients in synthetic fertilizers like Miracle-Gro are urea nitrogen and ammonium sulfate. When exposed to the air, these compounds create a toxic greenhouse gas that damages human lungs. Nitrogen can build up in the human body when it isn't detoxified fast enough by the liver.

Update: I do not use miracle grow for any of my plants any longer. I currently use Nature's Safe granual fertilizers, blood meal bone meal, compost and earthworm castings. This video is very old and my techniques have changed tremendously. After many experiments I found that miracle grow really doesn't provide the right nutrients my plants need. Too each is own but that's just my personal opinion with it, especially after growing for so many years and trying different things.

What is the average life cycle for California Wonder Bell Pepper plants ? That is to say, with great care, how MANY years will these plants live and produce ?

In my experience I've overwintered my California wonder peppers at least 3 yrs in a row. I've never tried anything beyond that so I can't say exactly.. Hope this helps!

Hello, I recently started growing peppers in my balcony. How many times should I water it in the day? And also how often should I feed my plants?

The amount of watering, all depends on the type of environment it's in. I water whenever the soil dries out. I don't water during the heat of the day because it can hurt the roots if it's too hot out. I just water early in the a.m. when needed.

Hi, In the Video you said it was winter, so that means that the pepper plant can survive winter? I just planted some today so that would be nice if they do. I'm in zone 8. What zone are you in?

It really all depends on your type of climate.. If you're in a tropical climate like I am here in florida, it'll probably last through parts of the winter. But once temps get too low, it'll stop producing.

I've never grown them before, but I know Calikim and The Rusted garden have.. They are both awesome! 😊

I do know they are high feeders and they like full sun. It's pretty hard to grow squash here in Florida. The leaves are too thick, which cause a lot of diseases in our crazy climates. I had to give up on the squash a few yrs ago lol. At least, until I set up a controlled environment for them.

why would you throw out a perenial?

Great question.. it could be for many reasons, the plants not producing like it should, gets destroyed by a storm, if pests invade them too much and it seems uncontrollable after treating, wanting to plant something different, or just wanting to start over.
