But he's rehashing old tricks; he's not inventing new ones like those guys did. A lot of what he does are tricks that have been all but lost. It's like people crediting Europe with the Renaissance as though it were new ways of thinking, but what really happened was the Turks pushed the Byzantines west and they brought with them a lot of the old Greek and Roman tech, math, and philosophy that had been forgotten for centuries. It revived their science, military, trade, and governing policies and brought Europe out of the horrid dark and middle ages. Believe it or not, we aren't evolving as a society. We have amnesia. Sometimes there are those among us who find the old tricks and it can be as dramatic for an entire continent as the Renaissance, or as breathtaking from an individual like David Blaine.

Archibald Doogan Your comment is akin to claiming that a piano player will never truly create an original piece simply due to the fact that there has been piano players before who've used the same instrument to create pieces of work. (This WOULD be all that's wrong with your comment IF your claim was valid...which it isn't...at all, so your comment is actually worse than the mentioned analogy, and ALSO contains at least 3 major fallacies) "But he's rehashing old tricks; he's not inventing new ones like those guys did" Oh really? What tricks are rehashed, and what ones are built on, and who was the inventor of what tricks and how has he rehashed and/or improved on them? What "old-guys" and what tricks? These are rhetorical question to help you amount an understanding of WHY your comment is so one dimensional and thoughtless. These are things you would have to AT LEAST think about before forwarding such a blatantly one dimensional comment with confidence. FYI: The answers to those rhetorical questions negate EVERYTHING your comment is foolishly rooted in. You see, I actually KNOW the answers to the questions in play, and because of that I have an understanding(working knowledge) on WHY you're so wrong, AND I even harbor a basic understanding of what thought scope you would have to be operating under to make such silly claims while OBVIOUSLY having NO idea on what your talking about. I get what you THINK you're saying, but you're blatantly off point and clearly operating under a one dimensional thought scope. Your comment is ignorant, baseless, and asserting dramatic claims with ZERO substance/supporting root, or ANY signs of observing reality. There's validity to SOME of the sentiment you've presented, but there's more flaw. "we aren't evolving as a society" There's profundity in that statement, BUT in no way, shape or form does it support your claim. Blaine HAS invented(as much as a song writer can invent a song)a few completely original tricks and 2 stunts. If you truly cared about having a working knowledge more than you cared about making yourself feel good/special/virtuous, then you'd have sought out info to substantiate/solidify your claims before making us who eat sleep and breath magic(for over 3 decades) cringe in our seats at the utter ignorance your comment is rooted in. So, unless you believe that NO musician will ever create original pieces, your comment doesn't work with the reality of what we're addressing right now.

I remember at the time my 20 years old self saw him fail and thought. "Man... What a waste of my time" I wished they had shown THIS! The trick itself is impressive. But the dedication. Preparation. Heart. DETERMINATION to push the bounds of humanity. He's a modern scientist. He's a Galileo for the body. This is mind numbing how badass he is.

So at 14 minutes he started to get the urge to breath? Thats so weird...
@override7486
@override7486 5 жыл бұрын
By that he meant body muscles, but most important, diaphragm contraction to force the body to release the breath. This huge urge of you being so bloat that you gonna explode in the second. This are heavy muscle spasm, and are a key sign of CO2 accumulation in the blood. Try it for yourself, not sure about your health condition, but in the end, where you feel you can't hold any longer, TRY IT. Push it, and try to override this physiological reaction (no, you want commit suicide, it's not possible to choke yourself to dead, you may faint tho). Trying holding breath as a teen, I could do 3 minutes without any training at all, spendind 12h on PC, just with hyperventilation before, but pain and urge to have a next breath started for me at about 2 minutes, and for this last minute, it's a constant pain to hold just for one second longer. Every healthy human is capable of holding breath for such time, it's mostly about technique, slowing bpm and so on.

I dont think he intended it to be a joke, but from what i know (cmiiw), at some point the body started going auto-pilot survival mode and physically force you to breathe wether you want it or not. This is why suicide by simply holding your breath is near impossible (i havent heard anyone did it) because that reflex will eventually kick in. But yeah the way he said it made me chuckle too

Anonymity is a right in the internet, showing your face basically means you want everybody to clown your sorry ass. The original argument was about your great achivements, yet you made it about profile pictures and yourself, like what? I can't find anything meaningful about your musty face either, yet here you are looking like a dry aged mole rat fending for its life with insults. Try to actually respond with tact and logic instead of spewing something a child would say during a tantrum, go suckle on your baby mama's tit to make you feel better.

What David Blaine really inspired me is he said he thinks everything is possible if something is done by one person that can be done by others. I am not a magician but what he said thought me many things if someone is success in what he does so do I, I will always remember what he said when I'm down or feel like I'm a loser,, I will never say I'm a failer from now on instead I will say to myself if he can so do I.What he said is really important to me, I use to say I can't in work or business or learning things. Those words teach me many things.

I used to think this guy had Supernatural forces at work helping him. Now I think he is just really committed to what he does and getting emotional at the end there speaks volumes. If we all were this committed to our families, jobs and friends imagine how much nicer this world would be.

When I saw the Prestige for the first time, I often wondered why would someone go to those lengths for a magic act. Just to wow people, and then you look at Blaine, the people who blur the line between magic and going to extra ordinary lengths to make the appearance complete. How to make the impossible, possible. And to absolutely fearless, Blaine has given so much to his craft, and he has totally devoted his body to his craft. This combination of extreme control, dedication to what he does, and fearlessness is what makes him who he is. Incredibly inspiring.
