Today I'm sharing my weight loss journey. I went from 145kg (320lbs) down to 75kg (165lbs) and managed to keep the weight off. I explain how I did it and some steps to follow if you'd like to lose weight as well. Hopefully this can offer some motivation and guidance to anyone looking to transform their body, no matter how much or how little you want to lose. Leave any questions/comments below and I'll try to reply to all of them!

I was where you were, Ben. I started a 'clean' Keto lifestyle six years ago and lost 58 lbs. I'm currently living a Ketovore (combo Keto+Carnivore)lifestyle and it's the best I've ever felt. Plus I'm maintaining a healthy 160lbs, by eating one meal a day, walking daily, lifting weights 3x a week, and doing a prolonged 4 day water-fast, every quarter. I'll be celebrating my 66 years around the sun, next month.😊🎉

I have exercised ever since high school. I was so scrawny you could see my ribs. I had no muscle, I was weak and constantly bullied, beaten, attacked and mocked my whole childhood. My mom was single and obese and always on a diet so there was no food in our house, I lived on generic peanut butter and top ramen. Then when I was a junior, my friend, a State champion wrestler, taught me how to fight, workout and eat protein powder with raw eggs. So all of that summer, him and I trained. I put on 25 pounds of muscle. Went back to school my senior year and everybody didn't even recognize me, first day I beat up one of the top bullies in school. been working out since. then covid hit and all my gyms closed. so I put on a ton of fat. then retired in 22 and started working out twice a day and lost 75 pounds. So I know the struggle. congrats on your achievement. Now you should start learning some MMA.

Hi Ben, thanks for telling your story of how you have battled obesity, and of how you lost weight and improved your health! The US government for decades pushed the food pyramid which told us how bad meat and fats were and how great carbs and sugars were! After generations believing the government and also most health officials the results are still evident in our children today! All meats have been demonized when they should have been a much larger portion of our diets! Your story is amazing, and is proof that a healthy diet contains meat and fats as well as vegetables! It's the carbohydrates and sugars that need to be limited! As you stated exercise is very important for a healthy lifestyle too! Thanks again for telling your story! Your story should be told in every classroom of our children around the world if we want healthy kids!

@benfishermin
@benfishermin 4 күн бұрын
Thank you! I find that without carbs I have so much more energy and need a bit less sleep to feel good. Carbs to put me down for sure. I think if sleep is a big issue without carbs it could be good to try electrolytes in your water (with no sweeteners or fillers). If that doesn’t help then adding in some carbs, from fruit ideally is a good idea

Any carbs when eaten turn to sugar in the blood and burn fast when eaten on their own which gives a spike..high..craving's then a slump...that's when you want more...then the cycle starts weight gain, addiction...to prevent this..always eat vegtables with carbs..a desert with yoguart....salad with carb and so on..why? the carbs that turn to sugar burn slower..you dont feel hungry..you dont get fat...its all about a balanced diet...and education about food..how to eat properly...having a healthy relationship with food.....well done you for finding your way to tackle this common problem 👍

Hey Ben, I don't think that it's a great idea to tell people that they should start eating meats. Bodies are different, what's great for you, Ben, may not be great for another. I'm 80 years old, stopped eating meat and fish in my early 30's, about the same time that I discovered a health food store in my neighborhood, downtown Manhattan. Eat anything I crave. Since my 30's I read all ingredients , and purchase accordingly. Love cooking and experimenting. Hubby and I rarely to want to eat out, home cooking is so much tastier. Home cooking let's you contro level of sanitation and quality of ingredients. Once a week we get pizza and share a beer. Here in Puerto Rico I swim in the outdoor YMCA pool 4 days a week for 1/2 hour, and stay slender. My entire life I get a cold or flu maybe once every 15-20 years. Plan on staying active and healthy for another 10 years, then I should be ready to move on. My blood tests always indicate 'perfection' according to my doctor. Recently discovered your channel, I'm in love with Malaysia and your presentation style. Be well and stay strong, Ben. Here's hoping peace, kindness, and compassion soon become the law of the land. 💙💜💙

Typically people enjoy meat and already consume it. Of course if you don’t enjoy eating meat or if you’re against it for animal cruelty reasons I understand that, and you shouldn’t eat it. From a health perspective though, beef/lamb is certainly the most nutritious thing you can consume. I would never advocate veganism/vegetarian living simply for health purposes. It’s definitely smart to try things and see how you feel, your body will definitely tell you if something is right for you or not. I’m glad you’re doing well and living a good life in Puerto Rico. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@benfishermin Actually, not eating meat was not a decision I consciously made. One day I realized that I had not ordered a meat dish in many months. It was a time when I didn't cook, I just ordered food from restaurants and ate on the run. Just wanted to respond when you said people should eat meat and avoid carbs if they are overweight and can't lose weight. I agree, if it feels good eat it. I eat loads of food that's not recommended to eat in quantity, like artisan breads, pastas, potatoes, and I'm real big on cheese. I'm aware that meats and fish farms load up with antibiotics, and veggies have all kinds of nasties festering in them. People work all day in the fields picking veggies and farmers don't install porta-potties. If the worker has to eliminate, they eliminate whenever and whereever. With so many recalls I'm now avoiding leafy greens and items that cannot be peeled. Other veggies I scrub well with soap and water. Lately, I realized at my age, 80, if my blood test are always showing perfection I no longer should feel guilty about what I like to eat. I just don't want to be telling others what they should eat, because God forbid, it might not resonate with their inner workings. Let them listen to their doctors if they want. Personally, I don't trust much of what doctors recommend. I went to a muscle doctor a few years ago when I pulled a muscle. He made a surprising comment to me that went something like, "you're so healthy because you don't go to doctors". Anyway, enough about food and diet. Stay strong, be well. I very much enjoy watching your videos, they're part of a new world that has recently opened up for me. 💙💜💙

Hey Ben, I know it's easy to get down on America because of some of our perceived ills but that doesn't make other countries more virtuous. Malaysia happens to have the highest amount of obese people in Asia per capita. The high caloric drinks, curries, etc. are the problem dietary. Exercise is also not culturally that accepted but it's growing. I'm a fitness professional and I have made my living in multiple Asian countries and the US. Your video is filled with misconceptions and untruths. I know you are not trying to give out factually incorrect information, but you are. Number one vegetable are carbs but they have a lot of fibrous (undigestible) carbohydrates. You do not want to be in a constant state of Ketosis it can be dangerous. if too many ketones accumulate in the body may ketosis progress to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a life threatening condition. I my girlfriend and I have our clients on Jungle Fed. She is a Dayak (Borneo native) and we have her eating traditional, whole, local foods. People on our system eat plenty of carbs and among them are fruits. I understand what works for you works for you and that's great but it's not for everybody. A lot of what you described about your weight gain is much more lifestyle related. I'd be happy to train you online for free and if you go to Borneo Tina will train you. This is all on me and Tina we call our business Sweat Bee's Fitness and our KZfaq will be coming out soon. I've trained Vegans, Jains (who are Lacto-vegan), vegetarians, omnivores, etc. You really are just reducing calories by eliminating foods.
@benfishermin
@benfishermin 4 күн бұрын
I didn’t say America is any worse than Malaysia in regard to diet and nutritional education, they are both bad in that regard. Some people do really well on only meat and others may not, it’s completely dependent on the person, you need to try things to see what works for your body. For me personally I cannot tolerate any fruit at all. Of course most people can. If you’re obese and continuously fail at trying to lose weight, a keto or carnivore style diet can remove the cravings for food. And for people with autoimmune issues or serious disease it can literally save your life. Ketosis will not simply progress into ketoscidosis, it does not not work like that. The only way this will happen is if you’re type 1 diabetic and have literally no insulin production at all. Prolonged keto is only a risk for DKA if you’re type 1 diabetic. You will know if keto/carnivore is not working for you as you will have serious symptoms that are hard to ignore. At the end of the day if you have 0 problems digesting foods, and you don’t have leaky gut or any sort of overgrowth of fungus/bacteria, then you should certainly include fruit in your diet. I certainly don’t believe veganism is healthy for anyone whatsoever. The only reason anyone should do this is due to beliefs about animal cruelty, not for health. I’ve been weight training for 15 years as well. I do appreciate your offer but I have quite a good grasp on the training aspect. Best of luck with your business, KZfaq is definitely the move for marketing that!

@@benfishermin But honestly how do you know all of this? I'm all for educating ones self with whatever means available but there is a lot of bad information out there and pseudoscience. People will make money off of food sensitivity tests but they are really not accurate. I absolutely respect you doing what works for you but I also do not think you are being accurate in the least. A lot of what you are saying is not established or respected it's very much fringe. I'll agree over the last few years we cannot always trust the scientific information out there from the "establishment" but again I'm just concerned about what you are putting out there with no real expertise or education. I also outsource or refer people to Registered Dieticians if it's beyond my scope of practice.
