HOW I'M COPING WITH 3 & THE PERFECT AGE GAP?

Hi Guys, I thought I'd film a bit more of a chatty video to answer a question that I'm getting a lot lately - 'How are you coping with 3 kids/children?'
So what is it like transitioning from 2 children to 3?
All is going well but I think there are a few reasons why it is all going well - which I explain in this video.
Thanks so much as always for watching and subscribing xxxx

I'm a only child so growing up our household was always so quite and it was lonely at times. My mum was strict with housework/tidy things but we also had fun too. I'm far away from having kids yet but I feel like I always want 3 (if possible) I want my house to be warm, full of laughter of a larger family and see the special relationship between siblings because I missed out on that myself in my childhood. I hope I will be a glamorous mum like you!

Listening to you makes me feel so so much better and more at ease. I have a 2 year old and I'm currently 6 months pregnant! It was planned and we are SUPER duper excited but anxious and nervous as ever with the idea of having two very young kids. But thank you so much, I've been getting a few comments from family members that it's too soon and impossible etc etc so listening to you reminded me exactly why we decided to have another and restored some of my confidence as a mother x P.s. I've been binge watching your videos for the past month and can't get enough! So so thankful I found your channel at this time of my life! Your children are gorgeous, watching little Jackson brings the biggest smile to me and my two year olds face, we just can't wait for our bundle of joy xx

I loved this chat video Emily! I think you've mentioned something fundamental: having a sense of humour! I'm expecting my second one and we always said we wanted 3 kids. My eldest will be 3 years when the 2nd is born, but I'm having a high risk pregnancy, so we will see how it goes to decide if we can have or not the 3rd child. I really appreciated to hear your experience with 3!

I have 3 just like you, with a 3 year gap each! Your videos have inspired and motivated me to wake up to a new day tomorrow with a renewed sense of "I love my family and I want to be the best I can be." Sometimes I fall of my routine and find myself getting slightly depressed again about how tired I am and feeling self-neglect. But it's nice to see mummies like you who use KZfaq for a good cause and helping other mummies feel inspired and knowing that we're not alone! Your subscribers can only hope that we give you the same to continue being a great mummy and vlogger! Cheers to you Emily!

You always nail the video topics! I loved hearing your thoughts on 3. We have 2 now and I've always said I wanted 4 children, so we'll see how that goes haha :) You really seem to grace through motherhood beautifully! And thanks for reminding me that I won't have a perfectly clean house right now - I'm such a clean freak and most days I feel like I'm drowning in the mess. I feel like social media always leaves me wondering how other moms keep their house so clean. But I know I'm also not seeing the whole picture! Good reminder that we can have a clean house later, but the kids are only small once!

I found 1-2 was really tough! Number 3 just kinda rolled into the family, haha! But something that I struggle with is having two older ones in school with all these after school activities, homework etc... it's so tough running around with a tot in tow, I'm completely exhausted at the end of each day. I'll admit I didn't nurse number 3 as long simply because i needed more flexibility, I have keen memories of my eldest feeding him a bottle in the car on the way to tennis 😬. Yes, it's crazy sometimes, but all worth it in my book. Hubby and I call 3 kids manageable chaos.

Fab video, Emily. My parents had three, as soon as the youngest started school, the next baby came along. I've only got two, not for the want of trying. My daughter was three and a half when my son was born, she did seem to struggle a little with the transition of becoming a big sister. Once baby was old enough to sit and play, they had such a close bond. She really loved dressing him as princesses and mermaids when he was little haha ❤️😘

Great video and I completely agree with all of your points. My first two are 6 and 9. We always said we wanted 3 children but after the second, there never seemed to be the right time. We resigned ourselves to the idea that we were 'done' (consciously but not sub-consciously I think) and I finally started selling all the baby gear at the beginning of the year. Well, I'm now 36 weeks pregnant with no. 3! The age gap is a bit bigger than I would've liked however with my two eldest in school I think it'll almost feel like a first baby all over again. Time will tell :-)

0 to 1 was soooo hard. My birth experience was traumatic, I lost a lot of blood and tore internally, my recovery period was very long and I didn’t feel like myself again for quite some time, I really struggled with breastfeeding which was excruciatingly painful, and I was SEVERELY sleep deprived for the entire first year of my baby’s life because she was an awful sleeper, so badly that I experienced heart pains daily. Nothing can be harder than that was. Just found out I’m pregnant with baby #2 (now that baby#1 is almost 3 years old) and I just know it HAS to be easier this time. It just has to.

I love your answer to the first question, and I couldn't agree more with everything you said! Having our first was definitely the hardest transition, two was a little tricky, learning to divide my time. Going to three, and then four, was a much easier transition to me. Each made me much busier, just not as hard a change.

Loved the video! I have a three year old and his little sister is due in January. I agree that a three year age gap is nice. I have anxiety about caring for a newborn and entertaining my little boy! But like you, my biggest adjustment was having no baby to one, so hopefully it won't be that bad. Loved all the advice! Thx ❤️

We'd like a third one day. I'm not done. Definitely not. I loved this. I've found the change from one to two hard, because of Daisy being poorly it just wasn't what I was expecting at all. I'm so nervous to have a third in case our third is poorly too. But this has made me excited. I'll be coming to you for some tips in a couple of years! xx

it's depends what sort of child you got, if you got a good sleeper or child that not going through terrible 2s. having 3 is easy but if you got a crap sleeper n you got to get up for school run. then it's hard also depends what hours your husband's works !

Rhonda Skinner I totally agree. I have a 4 week old as well as a 2 year old who isn't adjusting well and a 5 year old who needs to go to school. Getting a good nights sleep and everyone out the door is a serious challenge. There are so many variables. I'd agree with her that 0-1 was harder than this though.

I agree that a little bit of a bigger age gap helps make things go smoother. my girls are 4 years apart. the best part of it is that around the time my second started walking and getting into everything, my first started school. I get 6 hours with just my second and when she naps I can get the house cleaned up and what not. weekends are bonkers and loud but I love it.

I have an 11 years old, 10 years old and 3 years old. I definitely think having closer age gap is better in the long run. The first few years was tough, but when they got older, I can take them to school together, afterschool activities together, and at home they play together. I gave away all my baby things after my second kid. So by the time baby number 3 came along, we had to start all over with buying all new baby things, etc. My 2 older kids are big help with the baby. But downside is the big age gap leave my youngest to always play by herself and always have no one to play with. She always gets drag around a lot to her siblings afterschool activities. Anyway, my point is that the closer the age gap, the better. First few years is tough, but worth it.

I've said all along that the transition of none to one was hardest of all the transitions too... and I didn't really find that that hard really at the time. I think people seem to fall into two camps; those where number three just slots in, and those where number three turns their world upside down. I've definitely been in the easier camp, and as you know.... three just makes me want four!

I can understand that myself. I, like you, would love a girl but right now I will take what I'm given. Personally, I don't think the universe doesn't throw you anything you can't handle. If I had another boy I would think that if that was meant to be that is what is meant to be. Everyone else will have to let go of no girls themselves. Ha, Ha! Xxx

My husband and his brothers are each 4 years apart. They were close growing up and found things they could all do together, and now that they are adults they get along great and there’s hardly a difference! It makes me feel better about not having my babies back to back like my mother did, which worked for her and my sisters!

Loved your video, my husband and I are entering into the ttc our second baby zone now and the age gap will be the same. A little different at our house as my son isn't walking yet and has a delay, but I'm not getting any younger and it's still a nice age gap I think :) I think they'll be close when they're older no matter the age gap, I'm close with my brother and he's 6 years younger than me :) x
