How I Made a Thrust Vector Controlled Rocket

This project was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot while doing it. All the parts for this thrust vector control were 3D printed, and the rocket was controlled using an Arduino Uno with a custom shield.
This video does not show all of the launches of this rocket, but it does show the most important ones. If you want to see the rest of these launches, I have posted a compilation of all the launches.

You should try opposite with the thrust direction.

Amazing stuff for a high school freshman! I'm interested in the algorithms you're using in your code. Are you using something like a PID controller (proportional integral derivative), or something else?

Here I'm using PID without the "I" (integral) because the integral adds another level of complexity that I didn't think was necessary.

Great work.. try upgrade using better mcu than arduino uno with higher clock rate and 32bit. And you should collect data from each fligh to rate the performance to help you improve it.. after all you're in the right way and good luck

what design software is that? Where you can move the servos and all that? I'm looking for a design software to ramp up my own projects as well

Looks like fusion 360 Tho you can do that in any program Remember its not there by deafult and you need to set up a joint for it to work

Great job! What IMU are using to get your orientation data? This may be the reason for the slower than optimal response time.

In this video I'm using the GY521. I think I misdiagnosed the problem in the video; I'm pretty sure the poor flights were due to an error in my PID code. For my current iteration I'm using the more expensive MPU6050, which I like better, although I haven't noticed a huge difference.

I started by designing a gimbal for the rocket in CAD, which I think is the best first step for doing thrust vector control. You'll have to think about software as well, but I did that after the physical design.
