The "random dimple" on the cab side is an access to remove the mudhole door, this allows for wash out of built up sludge from water impurities/the products of metal corrosion inside the boiler and allows for internal inspection. It's on the cab side in this case just because of where the rear corner of the firebox ends up being in relation to everything else but it serves the same purpose as other similar "dimples" around the firebox area. Smaller ones are washout plugs instead to get hoses in at the top to wash everything down to mudholes at the bottom. Nice modelling 👌

The hybrid model of Gordon look brilliant. I can imagine that design being used in a live action movie adaptation. I can’t wait to see what the others will look in their hybrid form.

The coloured pipe coming out of the smokebox, running down the side of the boiler, believe it or not, would be part of the vacuum brake and would connect to the control in the cab releasing or applying the vacuum. As for your "cupholder", is probably just a slight misunderstanding of a sandbox. Sandboxes were often fitted in the spaces between or next to the splashers on earlier locomotives, however Gordon, being more "1920's Pacific" based, would've had them underneath the runningboard, hence why I said misunderstanding. Also the "random arch" on the back of the tender, would be part of the waterscoop, making sure that the water picked up at high speed between the rails, coming up with a lot of force, would then flow correctly into the watertank. Great model, great work, keep modelling 👍

Another absolute legendary model! You guys are killin' it out there! As for who should get the treatment next? I really don't know...I guess most would agree that James is the next logical choice to complete the Big Engine Trio. But I don't mind if you prefer to tackle something smaller this time.

An absolute masterpiece. Captures the best of both styles in the best way possible, despite the square buffers slander. Gotta say though, while the new Hybrid is MILES superior, I do prefer the spacing between the handrails and boiler pipe on the Deluxe Gordon. Something about the massive gap between them rubs me the wrong way given how the A3s look in real life, but I’m fully aware it’s just a result of the handrail placement on the actual TVS model. I blame whoever made the actual prop. Despite my personal grievance with the original prop’s design choices, Hybrid looks fantastic. Hope to see more in the future!

Dude this is like my 17th time watching this video and I still can’t over Gordon to say that you made my favorite Thomas & Friends character look absolutely beautiful is an understatement I can’t wait to see what you will do with other characters like James and Toby but especially others like Thomas, Edward, and Percy you’re a legend keep going

Hybrid Gordon looks like a mix between his RWS and TVS model which looks great and these models absolutely ROCK!

When i first saw this on twitter it was quite the eye candy, the perfect balance between realism while also having the models features, it really reminds me of the more later HIT era engines which were more detailed but also still felt toy and storybook like, you live to see it.

I love how your models both exceed our expectations but at the same time It matches them perfectly, i knew someone would have raised the back of the running board but making Gordon longer..? Totally un-expected!

That long pipe on the side is actually the Ejector pipe used to create a vacuum for the brakes, and the "Cupholders" are the tops of the sand boxes

While I am not a fan of the running board and tender you gave him, even though he had it in the Railway Series and TV series, you did a marvelous job on this model. I hope to more like in the future.

Gordon looks fantastic, I love the accuracy to the real A1 while also keeping his exclusive sloped running board after his rebuild according to the IOS book. Also with a couple of tweaks to the footplate, and you can basically turn him into TVS hybrid Flying Scotsman. I hope to see a hybrid Edward next, I want to picture TVS Edward with the accurate gap between his footplate and boiler like in the books.

Proper large firebox accurate unlike smaller one some people think TVs version of Gordon’s firebox was but small. His tender longer look sorta reminds of hornby model I know hornby model is more realistic look.

Duck would look great in the hybrid series, his prop looks good but there are still a few details missing

The pipe running along his boiler is the vacuum exhaust pipe for the brake system. Interestingly, since Gordon is primarily based on the A1, this pipe should actually be running along the right hand side of the boiler since the A1s were right-hand drive as built

I think the arch thing next to the water cap was the piping from the water trough pickup bucket used to refill the tenders with water while still moving quickly (water trough in the centre of the rails)

I know I've suggested this on Twitter, but I would love to see you make a model of Thomas that's a cross between his TVS model and Reginald Payne's illustrations. Reginald Payne's version of Thomas has details that are exclusive to him such as the LBSCR Smokebox saddle, the front buffer beam sticks out further and lower, a single cab window on the sides, safety valve covers in front of a whistle and he is quite long in some of the illustrations like real E2s.

Well done. I hate the TV series model because that tiny firebox is ridiculous. Since Gordon is A0 Pacific, the prototype for A1/A3, you can take liberties with him. I usually make drawings of him bigger and slower than Flying Scotsman, as these non-standard design issues were the reason why LNER didn't have a use for him and sold him off to the North Western Region.

Gordon is a work of art. Hopefully when "Thomas and Friends" will be revived as the 60FPS Clay-Faced Model Series with CGI-Voices (US and UK) and Mark Moraghan narrating and pick up where it left off as well as Series 11-24 and specials re-filmed, these Hybrid-Engines you could create could become a reality and be added into the revived show.

Mattel should take notes on this for the forster film. Maybe even hire you. But, we know youre too good enough for Mattels standards.

He has the best faces that I would like to see how you and many others come up with them. 😊 The hybrid version of him looks like his Hornby rendition with parts of Flying Scotsman added.
