Today's video shows you how I made my largest batch of soap yet! Over 100 bars! As a tiny company, finding ways to maximize your output is key to scaling the business. I was able to do that using Winston and Walter's Super Tall and Skinny Wooden Soap Loaf molds. I am a huge fan of this amazing Canadian company and was so pleased that this batch worked out!

Your soaps are great and love how they are a unique style to you!! 💞 You are increasing production exactly how I did but just a word of advice, you will find it an awful lot of work and in the long run it's better to have more than you need mixed up ready to go. Now what I find that works well is get a very large stock pot and scale up in that. I'm now prepping 10 loaves of oils and butters at a time in the pot. That way you are only measuring each oil and butter once. Eventually I want to get one of those 6 to 8 gallon beer pots with spigot. Hope that helps! 😉

Good stuff I am ramping up from my samples to full size bars. Two 5lb loafs at once. I was also thinking large square slab molds that make multiple loafs at a time. I have found scaling up now you really start to use products so keeping track is a must for spending.

@@Bella_0303 there's lots of videos on it but once you have a recipe that you like and use all the time you get containers that have lids and you measure out all the oils you need for one batch multiple times so if u have enough product for 6 batches of soap measure it all at once altho I do recommend keeping your hard oils and liquid oils separate until you are ready to make the soap this way you can melt the hard oils easier or do the heat transfer method with the Lye solution

If you want a tip for slow melting, use Instant pots pressure cookers. The basic models all come with the "keep warm" function and you just need glass lids and it warms coconut oil gently and efficiently while you work with other batches. If you need bigger sizes, Instant Pot comes in various sizes up to 8 quart.

Great job making larger batches. I use a.slab mold from Workshop Heritage and love it. Many say they have droopy liners. Mine don't fall in on the sides.. I've had them awhile. I clean with a damp cloth, spray with rubbing alcohol and store in their boxes, no issues. Your soaps are beautiful as alway, love the muted colors, always so pretty! I basically large batch the way you do. O don't want oils and lye master batched. I would rather have everything fresh. I just don't like the thought of it sitting around, I want them to be at their best quality. If they are all mixed and preheated, left for a few days maybe a week, then rewarmed to soap, I think your losing some quality. Same with your lye solution. I could be really wrong about that, but just a thought. Jill Gross

At the peak of my business, I was making 200 bars a day. People have mentioned master batching, which is of course an option. However, I didn't do that because my shop was only heated when I was in it and I found that when I master batched my oils, during winter they would harden up and be very difficult for me to scoop out. So my husband would measure out the hard oils for one batch and put them in a zip lock bag. Same with the lye. So when I wanted to make soap, all I had to do was grab a bag of hard oils and a bag of lye. I would then measure out my liquid oils while the hard ones were melting. This saved me a ton of time and was so much easier for me physically. Just grab and go. I generally made 4 12 lb batches a day. You may also want to get larger molds. HTHs.

I also use a bigger mixing bucket for oils to melt then mix with my Lye. I will pour out what I need for my smaller loaf molds into smaller buckets/mixing bowls right when they reach a light trace. I'll add the fragrance oils only when I'm ready to mix up and pour the soap. The colorant also gets mixed it after I do the fragrance oil. The one time I did the fragrance oil separately I didn't feel confident and the layers didn't come out right.
