I've watched two of your builds so far and I'm thoroughly impressed. I'm a bit confused about the placement of the blades, though. They seem to be set up for a left handed one-hand-open. To me it looks like if you switched positions of the blades, each one would be more easily accessible. But considering your skill and meticulousness, there's probably a good reason for doing it the way you did. Awesome work!
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive Жыл бұрын
Hey, the reason why the Dragonfly in this build is placed as it is, is to make the original blade more accessible . If I had placed the Dragonfly closer to the right side, then the original blade would not be accessible at all. But, I have placed the Dragonfly on the right side on other builds.

wow, nice build! love that "switched serated" blade (on the solder 08, i'd rather have a unserated long part, and a short serated, than the normal standard version)... also - ever thought about getting the spring for the dragonfly-mod mass-manufactured? wonder why there's no custom-scale that offers 4 tool-tunnels (tweezers, toothpick, pen, firefly ;) - at least i haven't found one (only that on the plusscales, one can open the 3rd tunnel)

Excellent job as usual. Eye-candy to see such Craftsmanship. You can speed up the process using a riveting press for rivets head and a pneumatic Pencil die grinder such as Snap-on AT1070A + Carbide burr set for precision work on the reshaping of hardened parts. interesting implements to eventually experiment could Be a multi tool all stainless knife build around OLFA CK-2 retractable blade Kiridashi (OLFA also has interesting disposable blades with hooks and fine saw blades.I mean something using victorinox components fitted like in a TrueUtility microtoolbox manner fixed by the flat side of olfa CK-2 other interesting implements could be the integration of ultra thin Casio A700 module in the scales.

Hey, awesome work. You've inspired me to try to make my own modded SAK but I can't figure out the Spyderco spring. On this 91 mm build where does it come from ? The scissor spring on other 91 mm models doesn't look like that or is it from a 93 and just filed down ? Can the original blade spring be used also ? Thanks in advance

Спасибо! Проблема с ручкой была в самом накладки. Нужно было расширить отверстие. А так да, неудобно было открывать основные лезвие из за Spyderco. Но, клиент хотел именно такую сборку.

No... The reason why the Dragonfly got placed on the left was to make the original blade more accessible. The tall profile of the Dragonfly prevents access to the nail nick on the original blade.

Happy Sunday Maestro FTS, another brilliant creation from you! As a matter of interest did you reassemble the Evolution 23 model (minus the magnifying glass) or will you use the knife for it parts? BTW have you heard that Victorinox has discontinued some 39 models from its 2023 dealers Catalogue & already about a dozen models have been removed from Victorinox Global's main website & that by the end of 2023 all the 85mm Delmont range will also be discontinued. The initial information came from VicSpains channel & not from some anonymous source.

Hello! Thanks! I did not reassemble the Evo 23, I have my eyes on a couple more parts from it for other builds. I heard about the discontinued models. I wonder why they decided to do that. Some of them are really popular.

@@FittoSurvive Not just popular but iconic in the case of the 74mm Executive & 84mm Tinker Small due to their MacGyver connection. I don't have a 84mmTinker small but I have 1 red & 2 black 74mm executives bought new & unused. I have a fair number of the other small models that are due to be discontinued too & am considering buying some more of them whilst stocks last as well as some more of the already expensive 85mm Delmont range as they will make great future gifts to friends & relatives. I won't miss the Wenger style scissors which I consider inferior to those of Victorinox but I will miss the Wenger style blade, the blade lock models & the Wenger style nail file & colorful EvoGrip scales.

@@FittoSurvive Happy Monday, I have been checking a number of sellers websites & noticed that many of the "doomed" SAK's are already listed as "out of stock" (my local dealer is out of about a dozen of them) & likewise some of the 85mm Delmont range are gone too. All I can suggest to you is to scour eBay for used SAK's that have some of the tools you are frequently use in your orders to buy for their parts and I have seen a number of SAK's listed cheaply because they have bent or damaged blades or other tools, making them good only for use by a skilled modifier like yourself.

Don't know why Victorinox never offer to customer to at least choose the tools they want in place of selling to much iteration with very small change. Sometime I buy a sak or a multitool just because of 1 or 2 great tools that work great but never use or very little the others. So I wonder if I not better to get the real tool for himself. Guess I'm too fond of this stuff😅🤣.

OMG, if I could downvote this video twice, I would. Hopefully that would stop you from making this content. "Check out my cool mods, new Spiderco blade, G10 liners and custom scales." The worst part of all this is that I am not skilled enough to make anything at home and don't have the money to commission one. Then, I'm stuck here just drooling over such great work. Nice job! Very nice work, as always. Amazing videography too, by the way. But I have to ask, why do you glue the scales on with epoxy? Never thought they needed to be glued on. Is it exclusive for mikarta scales?
@FittoSurvive
@FittoSurvive Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Means a lot to me, especially after 5+ hours of editing. 😅 I use epoxy on all of the custom scales that I use. While some custom scales will "snap on", they do not stay on very well. The original plastic scales conform to the brass grommets when attached using a vice. This makes them snap on and stay on. After market scales are usually made of hard materials that will break off the edge of the brass grommet when being snapped on instead of conforming to the grommet. Hopefully that made sense. 👍🏻👍🏻
