I've gotten into a habit the past few years when I am shopping, I go through you tube, find affiliate links from one of the main influencers I watch. It doesn't cost us more, just takes a minute and making the purchase anyway so it's sort of supporting small business even while buying from a large retail store.

Knowing that there is a cookie window and that the influencer will still make income if I make any purchase I will do the same. Like Michele said large companies are getting free advertising from influencers, they should at least support and compensate them.

Michele, you are the best person to do this video!! You covered all the bases so well. There’s only one more thing I wish you would have mentioned.. that while we as creators have the ability to put ads IN our videos, we don’t have control of WHAT kinds of ads appear. This is really important going into an election here in the US. I’ve had people get very angry at me about a political ad that ran while they were watching one of my videos. One person screamed at me because they saw an ad for a Senator not even from my state! 🤦‍♀️ Other than that, you get an A+ for this!!! 😃👍🏻

You can go into your settings and choose not to allow certain ads. I’ve turned off political and dating ads.

I’ve seen so many videos on how to make a living out of KZfaq and yours has the best advice and most information. I just wanna thank you for being so kind and open to share so much details. I started my channel when I was deciding to quit Med school and making videos made me feel productive and not useless for some reason. That let in some light back into my life. I had and still have so much doubt in myself in making a successful channel (not in money but videos worth watching). I recently had the 1 month premium trail to skip ads but after that I’m gonna let ads run. I believe in supporting channels that’s worth supporting. Thank you for the encouragement. I hope there’s a part 2 if you have time for that. 💜

This is THE best video I've ever seen on the subject. Informative, encouraging, and without the "cloak and dagger" mentality I've seen from some other KZfaqrs. Very, very well done. Thanks for posting this vid. It confirmed much of what i suspected already, as a person who has watched and enjoyed KZfaq from the start. I will continue to support the people that create the content that I enjoy, makeup, kittens, gaming and music, by watching the ads and letting them run to the end, click on affiliate links to the creator I wish to support, click on interesting ads that show up, not install programs that does not let ads through... As a viewer, YT is a treausure chest of entertainment and knowledge, created by people wanting to share their loves, skills and talents, and I can help give an income so that they can eat, live, buy equipment...

Great info! Could you also let us know the costs of running a beauty related youtube chanel? Making beauty related videos includes purchasing a lot of products that have a high cost as oppose to making gaming videos. How do you balance the cost/investment especially at the beginning when you don't have that many viewers and subscribers? Is there a max cost you target per video to still make sure you are making money off it?

Thanks for sharing this information! Having a channel is a lot of work too! I was wondering, Michele, if it has become less fun for you with the exchange of money. It looks like you really enjoy what you do as your work. There is definitely different attitudes towards the sponsored videos. I guess I should also never say never. People definitely can't do work for free and everyone needs to earn a living to live. I just don't want my opinions to be changed by the exchange of money. I liked what you said on knowing your value / what you are worth. That is really good. I also enjoyed that podcast you did (but I don't know who interviewed you). Michele, this is a fabulous video! At my age (71) I like to learn something new every day, and boy, did I today! I had no idea of what is involved in KZfaq channels and that people can make a living doing videos on them! Now I also know why those annoying ads pop up! OK, just... Thank Heaven's for you and your channel. My twin sister and I are working to figure out KZfaq channel creation and how to grow the channels; and just didn't know even what the questions were to ask. You've helped us so much! I was raised not to talk about money and prefer not to have money drive things as a result...but I'm approaching retirement in a few years and love to be at home, love AV technology and love to create videos. So, I'm hoping I can monetize my channel, and my sister can monetize hers also. I know it's like, a year later, but ... thank you! ;-)

I always try to watch the first ad before a video...but generally the second ad is so long (on this video, it was a 46 minute ad!!!) so I skip it.. but I also find a Sephora link from you when I need to buy something from them to help you out. Love your videos!! ☺️
