How I Make My Running Training Plans

Күн бұрын

In this video I reveal how I make my own running training plan with 4 simple rules. I have used this for the past year of running without a coach, and I have been able to continue to run faster. I discuss training paces that you should know about, frequency of training, and how to put it all together in only a couple of minutes. I also include a 4 week training plan in this video that you can use. You probably won't need a running coach after this video.

This really was everything I needed to make a training plan for myself. Determining mileage per week is the only thing kinda missing but I know it varies per person.

Just the old 9 or 10 day Training cycle works well if you don't have to watch out for the other weekly chores you might have.

Good video, with one caveat: I don’t think you have to follow an hard day with an easy/recovery day. In my case, I get soreness and fatigue 48 hours after a workout, not the day after. I can usually have a long run followed by a threshold workout or a fartlek, but I can’t two days after. To fully recovery I’ll make sure to add two or even three recovery days.

Very interesting! Thanks. Have a look at block periodisation - it’s an interesting concept where you do a majority of your intensity in one 1 week, followed by 3 weeks of barely any intensity. Seems to work fairly well

Since you run so much and are in such good shape, your energy levels throughout the day must be through the roof and always better than others right?
@PeakStride
@PeakStride 10 күн бұрын
Good question, I think generally your energy levels will be higher if you’re fitter. But if you’re in a heavy training block you’re not so energetic haha!
@eeeeee781
@eeeeee781 10 күн бұрын
@PeakStride heavy training block? What do you mean? Also why did you say in general? Have you not seen a massive difference in daily energy levels since you are so incredibly fit and run so fast?
@eeeeee781
@eeeeee781 10 күн бұрын
And does the energy increase peak at any time or it keeps getting higher as you get fitter? Like did you keep getting more energetic daily?
@PeakStride
@PeakStride 9 күн бұрын
@eeeeee781 a heavy training block would be a specific training for a race. This would include faster and harder sessions to boost your fitness. But, they are very fatiguing especially when done for a longer period of many months to get ready for a race. Right now I am base training, which mains all of my running is easy. Barely any fatigue during this, which means that my energy levels are very high! Which is awesome.

What do you mean when you say 5K-10K pace for the VO2 max workouts, I'm so confused.
@PeakStride
@PeakStride Ай бұрын
The workout for vo2max needs to be in the same pace ranges as your 5k to 10k pace ranges

Wouldn't suggest anybody looking to run a 5K or 10K to make a long run beyond 18 km let a alone 25 km. You hardly need long runs that massiv even when aiming for a half marathon you don't have to do long runs beyond 22km.
@PeakStride
@PeakStride 6 ай бұрын
I said 15-25km. A big range depending on running ability.
@topofthemountainfitness7245
@topofthemountainfitness7245 5 ай бұрын
I think that really depends.. if you have more experience like he says the longer runs can really help, for example when training for a half marathon I would still work on my long run endurance which is weekly runs that are 30k plus

Sorry but most training plan even those for free are pretty good and certainly not a way to get injured.
