A) they get more comfortable after years on camera, I’ve seen this phenomenon with many Tubers. B) he acts frugal but makes more money from this than you think, probably $10K/month all in with ads, donations and sponsors, promos. Who wouldn’t be happy go on vacation for a living

That is a really great perk to add to cruisin' life. One thing tho': There is a safety note with this system. I'd be careful to install it where a CO2 leak can vent to the outside of the cabin. CO2, while non-toxic, is still capable of suffocating you if it displaces atmospheric air, for instance, while you are sleeping. So if you had a cannister leaking inside the boat, and you were sleeping fairly low in the cabin, there's a stray possibility you might wake up dead. Be sure to shut the main valve when not in use, if nothing else!

It you’ve got the room this is the way to go. Filling the large tank is way more economical than those little bottles and I ive been unimpressed with the bubblyness of soda stream. As a bonus you’re also set for a keg with this.

Shaking is legimitely a way to impregnate the water with the c02. This method is used in the aerosol industry when a product is oily or thick in general to allow the c02 to seep into the material to allow a higher spraying force for the end result. The More you know!

I have the Sparkel and you can choose the level of fizz, but the carbonator sachets are $40 for 90 and the bottles are now 2/$37. I thought about hacking a SodaStream by connecting it to one of those tanks but this is a better idea.

Hi @Sam, hope you get proper notification of my comment. So you have the bubbles for your water, but how do you get fresh water on your boat? Do you have a water-maker for longer passages? How do you wash/shower yourself when on open water? Curious, because I like to go from Amsterdam (Durgerdam) to Sardegna (Italy) next year on a 27ft sail boat, solo, like most of your trips ❣️

I refill my water bottles and shower at marines every week or two. There are loads of marinas between Durgerdam and Sardegna to stop in.

Personally, I prefer to just refill my small tanks from the medium tank, then I don’t have pipes strewn around, and if any one springs a leak, I still have the others. 😉

PS: I highly recommend NOT drinking out of the bottle in which you carbonate. Regardless, it’s very important to SANITIZE everything. Personally, I use a little bleach, which will kill all almost everything that might kill you. If you wanna get really fancy, get some soda kegs, and carbonate your sanitized, fresh springwater in those, and have bubbly water ON TAP at all times. 😋 But definitely sanitize everything that comes into contact with stuff you’re going to ingest!

How many bottles blow up in your face? Reminds of my father making root beer. All summer, day and night, we had bottles randomly exploding in the attic. We were too afraid to open the hatch into the attic. What is the psi rating of used bottles? Do you need headspace like propane?

@@samholmessailing sodastream injects liquid CO2. This way is just gas into the head space. You have to shake to get it to carbonate. It works and I did that for years but sodastream is better.
