I have had this homeowner Champion log splitter for several years and it's been great! BUT.... the deck is too small on it. So today I show you what I came up with to remedy this issue. I hope you enjoy!

I bought mine still in the crate unassembled. I used part of the crate to build a nice workbench that sits right over the top of the motor. Makes for a nice place to set a round or two. Also easily deflects stray splits. Enjoyed your video!!

Nice modification! I've been looking at that Champion 27T, but with a Honda GX engine. Our local store is clearing them out for nearly the same price as the ones with the Champion-branded engines, so I'm thinking it is time to pull the trigger. I've thought the table was too small and figured I'd have to enlarge it somehow...yours gives me some good ideas! 😎👍

Tough to beat a Honda! I’d do it!

I made mine a little bigger out of a piece of plywood and a leg of 2x4. It just slips into place and locks when needed. The idea of a permanent one is interesting now that i have a welder.

The original yellow wings are mounted upside down. They should be flat, not angled up like that.

That’s the way it came from champion. It works great! Thanks for the comment.

The wings angled up keeps the wood from rolling off, duh.
