I miss the city like no other. Yes, it's a struggle and a hustle, but it's so rewarding. Every single time I place my groceries in the back of my car and drive home I remember walking from Grand St. in Soho to Whole Foods on Bowery then taking the F train to the 7th Ave, 9th St stop in Park Slope so I could walk downhill instead of uphill to my apartment... or the room I rented in that apartment. LOL the struggle IS real but I appreciate every single lesson I learned in NYC.

So you're calling every non-American born in nyc a rapist and refugee? In that case you are disrespecting most of the nyc population, and immigrants are what made/ continues to make the city so valuable in the first place.

i hated new york in my first 4 months, but after 1 year i started to love it.... the city itself have a lot of things to offer...New York thought me how to be independent, emotionally detached, strong and smart! try living here guys... no harm in trying...

A month ago I moved from Southern California to NY for graduate school and I have started to really like NYC. At first, I wasn't happy because I felt lonely and there were lots of inconveniences. I knew no one, everything was so small(rooms, bathrooms, shops, markets, etc), traveling 10km took ages, it was no longer safe to wear flip flops/thongs,etc etc. However, once I started meeting new people(thank god for meetup sites/apps and friends of friends), I started feeling better about the place. I love that the subway is 24/7(I can go out drinking! :D), there is cuisine from all over the world, there are people of all backgrounds, people move quickly, there is always something new to experience, etc. Lol I am going to miss NYC when I go back to SoCal for winter break

As an Australian wanting to move to NYC..I have a few questions: namely, what type of visa are u on? How did they accept u for the internship if you were an Australian graduate(assuming they only take American grads). Did you get the job instantly after the 3 month internship ended? And did your employer help with the visa process. Thanks!

Omg this is the best story! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel. Living the dream girl...presenting, journalism, videography. It's so awesome to hear that you hopped right into it. Yay for you!

The last part of this especially rings true for me. I loved this! I live in Kentucky, and people don't ever even imagine traveling to NYC on a vacation let alone living there. They get married, have kids, then save money and buy a house, get divorced, all while not working in any field they're actually passionate about. I love finding people (especially through my KZfaq channel!) who relate to living a life you're fully committed to and passionate about. This video is now marked in my favorites so I can come back & visit it

You are a great motivational speaker. I am a native NYer who now lives in the Caribbean, and I found your tips/insight spot on. NY is a "dirty" city which we share with rodents, but it's a melting pot where you can meet the most wonderful people and experience what it would take years of travelling to enjoy. Good luck! Love your videos and collaborations. Mara

I'm from Staten Island, New York, which is a borough of nyc and it's actually very suburban and quiet, so not every part of nyc is dirty and full of hustle and bustle and we don't even have a subway here lol. However, I do commute to Manhattan for college and everything she is saying is true. There are rats in subways, it does smell like pee, etc. but when you are just walking through Manhattan it truly does look beautiful.

I'd love to go to NYC. I moved to LA and even though I love the weather and the beaches, I find it kind of fake. Los Angeles is a huge pretentious overrated parking space. Not only are the people fake but the city itself. In NYC people are real, they might seem rude but I would rather someone is rude but honest then seemingly nice but then you find out they are totally fake (like in Los Angeles).

Saw your channel and I was interested on watching your videos coz Im also from New York. Ive been living here for almost 2 years now. I live in Upper East Manhattan. Yeah, your right, definitely expensive for a studio apartment. Mine is $1750 with all utilities included. For me, my meals are not a problem as I am working in culinary department. I agree with the mouse issue, even in my apartment there is. Subways are just crowded during rush hours. Yes its expensive here but there are a lot of opportunities for you to learn and feed your mind. I still love New York and blessed that I am here

This video shows up on my KZfaq news feed and this is indeed my first time watching you! I admire everybody who leaves their comfort zone to grab something they want. I myself did something similar - leaving my good job in HK after 4+ years and move to London now. It has been almost one whole year which I simply cannot believe it! I went to the Big Apple a few times and I can totally imagine the difficulties you addressed (so glad that I don't have to deal with croach issue in London #disgusting!) I agree that there are times that we have to push ourselves to get what we want, everyone is different and I am glad to know others stories on KZfaq, we're not alone. Keep up the good work :D Stay hungry, stay foolish! xoxo

It's a great time to come as the Christmas lights are on but it can be a bad time for people who don't like crowds (was at Oxford Circus today and... too many people!!) Doing good in the Big Smoke and looking for more challenges and excitements ahead, cheers! xoxo

History[edit] In 1979, it was recorded by Frank Sinatra, for his album Trilogy: Past Present Future (1980), and has since become closely associated with him. He occasionally performed it live with Minnelli as a duet. Sinatra recorded it a second time for his 1993 album Duets, with Tony Bennett.

lol Awesome video. I've been in Brooklyn for about a month and I'm learning the same things but I LOVE IT. My suggestions.... Want to move to NYC? Just do it and enjoy the ride. Prepare for no sleep, long days and nights, and the most random things in life. Oh an madd rats

daisy buchanan from the great gatsby said, "and I hope she'll be a fool - that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool" and I always analyzed that to be negative.. but I definitely agree with your take on being foolish. I love it. thanks for being you, felicia! you've inspired me so much and I'm so happy I stumbled upon otgw bc of that (:

''rats on the train'' LOL OMG... I stumbled upon your video randomly and you gave a nice and honest presentation of NY. I have a family friend who said the same things! I agree with you on ''being truthful and not portraying an image of yourself that you're not, especially on YT.'' It takes a bold person to do that. hats off.

Hey thanks for this video! I'm a university student, majoring political science, living in a small (actually its big, just not that known lol) country in Asia. Ever since I was 18, I've always wonder how it feels like to live in such big city. But I never actually know what I'm going to do when I get there, or how do I actually get there? But then I bumped into this video of yours and I realize that MAYBE, one day I'd found an unexpected opportunity to get there just like you got through that internship thing. Thanks for letting me know that chances will come eventually if you just keep doing your best at what you're doing. Okay this is a long ass comment with broken english (I'm sorry) but anyway thanks and maybe see you in NYC in.. 5 years?:)
