Agree with Nathan. I started watching your videos and after watching many of them, or ALL OF THEM, I sent them to my avid duck hunting buddies and some that are novices. Helps me, get my fix during the off season 😊 Great educational videos. Not just shooting ducks, which I love. I find myself looking for new videos from surviving duck season when I get a notification. Keep up the great work. We appreciate you and what you share. BTW - just spent 18-20 hours putting raffia grass on my duck boat blind. Lot of work, but worth it. It looks great!

This is my opinion on brushing layouts I think you put the grass kit on them as a filler. Then use what you have around you like in a cornfield corn stubble for sure just make it look natural. When I camo blinds for cornfield hunting is I get about 50 yards or so and rake up stubble on a tarp and put it around the blind and make it like a mound. I’ve had geese flare because we got stubble around where we setup. I know that sounds crazy but I’ve seen them do it. If you got a drone send it up and see what it looks like from above and make any changes if needed. My philosophy is concealment is critical and remember our judges have eyes in the sky.
@SurvivingDuckSeason

You’re exactly right. I have to remind my guys to get way away from the blind to get the stubble!

@@SurvivingDuckSeason I think brushing and camo is often overlooked by hunters got to make it look natural and you’ve got to pick a camo that blends in with the surroundings you hunt

Concealment is the most important part of the hunt besides locating birds..... You absolutely nailed it.....
@gooseflatwaterfowlers
@gooseflatwaterfowlers 3 жыл бұрын
@@ScottHillOutdoors I put scouting at the top priority you’ve got to find them and find exactly where they want to be. Then when it’s time to hunt be sure your concealed. My opinion is hunters need to be building blinds now in there hunting holes them about a month out start brushing it up with what is natural around the spot. Also be sure to continue brushing occasionally throughout the season.

Joel an alternate to raffia, that will last much longer is a product from Blindgrass (out of Louisiana). I've been using their mats and loose grass for the last 2 seasons and the stuff still looks almost new. No rot, etc from this product. The blades are larger, but you can basically do the same thing as the raffia as far as attachment. Get weird looks when you mud a brand new layout, for sure, but it is the best thing to do to help with making it usable in the field. Great video!!!

How do we brush up an a frame blind !?!!
@SurvivingDuckSeason
@SurvivingDuckSeason 3 жыл бұрын
Many of the a frames have brush straps attached to the outside of the blind. You can stick brush in them or use them as tie down points to strap brush to it. Alternatively, you can add that sort of thing to the blind it yourself... Zip ties, etc... Ill be doing some more videos in the next couple months on different types of blinds, I'll try to cover that too!

I untie the bottom, but leave the top tied and just pull out just what I need for each bundle- as I need it. It’s kind of a pain, and certainly not full proof. That’s the one thing about raffia that I don’t like it’s prone to tangle 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes I hunted from it 12 or 15 times this past season. I prefer it over several other ones I have. One thing to know is the doors are NOT rigid. They don’t spring open like others do. I like it better, but some don’t like that. It’s very roomy and great for big guys. I recommend. Hope that helps.
