I can relate to your story about changing your life. On August 11, 1983, I had my last drink of alcohol. This August, I will celebrate 41 years of sobriety! I wasn’t yet a raving alcoholic at that point and I was never in debt, but I was morally bankrupt. On September 17th, I will be 82! I still have a sharp mind, but my body is giving out so I have become disabled. Thank you to all the KZfaqrs who keep me entertained! Love from Victoria Canada! 😊 🇨🇦

March 20, 1989….for my last bender, I am 72 now and the joints are shot from pulling on huge wrenches and pushing lumber through machinery, but building my very first home shop and having real friends instead of “aquantices “ that I wouldn’t let pet my cat. A fine lady who tolerates my quirks and a diesel truck that starts every time I want to go somewhere. Life is good if you can get out of your own head. And doing non-professional grade videos is always a treat, the effort you put into your regular ones is above and beyond what most non working people could provide on their best days. Some days pulling on your boots is difficult but you have to, cuz you are a good man and have people who could on your being who you are. Flying any lately? You seemed to really enjoy the diversion 😊

Really appreciate the life stories August. I met you at Arbor Fest West in Sacramento California many years ago and I’m so glad to know that your regular person people often idolize anybody who’s on the other side of the camera but we are regular people. Thanks to you. For always being who you are a child of God. Joe Rapanut

I thought from the start that you were (and are) a remarkable young man. I saw that you were running a crew, learning to operate a crane, climbing at peak level and making some of the best action videos on youtube or anywhere else, for that matter. And you were raising a family. Who has that kind of energy, focus and drive? Not many that I have seen in this brief journey we call "life". I thank you every day I walk to a tree to do what needs to be done. I have chopped up sticks for more than sixty years, but never with the skill(s) and confidence I have now, thanks in great part to your fantastic video demonstrations and now with my superb MonkeyBeaver saddle. Thanks again, to you and your crew. I am glad to see you taking care of yourself a bit, lately. As the say, "Put on your own oxygen mask first".

You are an amazing man and it’s YOU I watch. I narrow down my subscriptions to only the creators personality not the content, necessarily. You can make a video on anything and I’m watching. I often watch videos on things I have very little interest in but love the fun, inspirational and informative creators. As for as tree work you are one of the best but you can discuss vegetable gardening and I would watch. We love you, buddy.

I have to say, it’s disappointing when I don’t see a new video from you in my feed. I can appreciate just how much time AND thought goes into most of your videos. For me, The Art of Not Dying was your crowning piece - just incredible all of the work and detail that went into it. August, you owe us nothing, but you give us so much. Thank you.

Some people don't appreciate what we do when we create videos. Instead, they critique everything and are negative. With that said, there are many out there that DO appreciate the videos and leave positive comments. It's for them we create the content.

Hey August! That was a bit of a tangled mess, Nice work with it! Life is quite often like that, a tangled mess, I know mine is anyway. I was just thinking through one of those messes this morning, pleading with the Lord about it, and up popped the notification for this video! Matthew 6:25-34 -thank you for pointing out vs 34.-Just do the next right thing-such a simple concept, sometimes so tough to do with any consistency.

Ivy trees are a great time for deep philosophical thoughts about just focusing on making the next right choice as well as being a terrific time to invent new cuss words 🤣But for real, thank God for an adjacent tree to tie into! I will take tangled throwlines over spurring up big nugs any day of the week.

Thanks for sharing! Those of us who have been "down there" know what it's like. It's also hard to explain to others who don't know, but you do it in a very good way! I know exactly what you're talking about, so I don't need an explanation. Keep up your good work with the trees and all the guidance for a life of good qualities. God grant me the serenity.......... PS. Still climbing, 70 years old and still wering your T-shirt.

I'm in the beginning of my journey of not being a party person. I quit drinking 9/25/23. Taking it one day at a time. I felt so assumed of myself. It feels good to be able to say no...not today, and mean it. It's weird to me the pride I feel when people ask if I want a beer after I get done climbing out a hard job, and I say "no thanks, I don't drink." Thanks for another hangout vid. You should have brought some ranch dressing for that salad tree bro.😂, or maybe your a blue cheese guy...I don't know.

Praise God for his mercy and grace that enables us to be better and look better than we all are underneath the facade we can so often put on! I love how you are real and tell it as it is. I love that God gives us the tools to win but it still takes considerable determination, effort and a journey to get out of our man made situations! Many of us struggle in our younger years but find it hard to admit as we get older! Sharing a testimony like this really helps others and lets them know they are not the only ones struggling. Thank you August this video meant a lot and hit home! I can see why your church values your input!

I'm a self-taught arborist in Vermont who does a lot of climbing. I work solo. As such I have a great appreciation for the work you and your crew do. I love to watch tree/arborist videos from the most well known folks on KZfaq. They are all good, but you are the best. I appreciate your expertise and speed. You're the king of speed lining and creative felling. I love your willingness to share your thoughts and ideas. I don't aways agree but you make me think and I always learn from you. I own a MonkeyBeaver 2.0 saddle and harness and love them. The quality and design are amazing. Your video production and editing is the absolute best ever! I know it takes a lot of time in the field and studio. None of it is lost on me. Thanks for all of your contributions to the industry. So many of us including me are much better and safer arborists because of you. One request, I love when you teach. Show more climbing and less cutting. I love to see how you got the rope on that branch, or your technique for spiking up an extreme leaning tree, etc. Stay the course, keep the faith, you're making a big difference. Thank you.

Napalm, my first thought when I saw the ivy, no ivy, no ants, no bees, problem solved! Your crew and client will be greatly entertained as well.... or horrified... don't get any ideas people, I jest and am a little warped. Seriously, it's obvious that with family, business and other personal endeavors your plate is full. Thank you for taking the time to post. When you spoke of taking a day at a time I immediately thought of the verse you posted at the end. I'm in my late 60's and a clear example of God's mercy and grace, I'm still around in spite of doing pretty stupid things in my youth, indeed God is good, sanctification in obedience one day at a time, I hope to continue in it till the day I die. I always enjoy your posts, they are entertaining, thoughtful and educational. Blessings to you and your family Sir.

Anyone should have "Der geistliche Kampf" from Scupoli Lorenzo. If i remember right it was written in 1507 and the guy who wrote it didnt allow his monk order to make his name public. After this death his name was written on future editions of the book. The book has anything what a guy needs to know how to think about themselves. And maybe its not what one may think.
