Some of the reviews for the ICU Book online suggested its needs to be updated for current practices. Did you notice that when reading?

I am a USRN but I work as a Neuro ICU Nurse in the UK for 16 months, am I qualified to sit for the exam?
@NurseBass2 ай бұрын
I'll be honest, I don't have a clue lol. I'd maybe recommend reaching out directly to the AACN and see if they can help provide you with any additional insight! :D

Hey man, I'm starting in cvicu this month with a year of medical icu experience. What can I do to increase my chances of success?
@NurseBass5 ай бұрын
If you’re in a hospital facility then I would recommend signing up for free Basic EKG/advanced EKG classes. Id recommend taking device classes on the department when they’re offered (intra aortic balloon pump, Impellas). I’d recommend familiarizing yourself further with pressors/inotropes and their hemodynamic effects, familiarize yourself further with hemodynamics like HR, BP, CVP, PAPs, CO/CI, SV, SVR, SvO2, and other values you can derive from a pulmonary artery catheter and how these values intertwine. Highly recommend a CCRN prep book or the ICU Book by Paul Marino for wonderful hemodynamic info

Good luck! You got this. And don’t feel overwhelmed by all of that. Seasoned CVICU nurses of multiple years still don’t have it all down. We are all on our own journey but good for you for your proactivity!

How did u get them for free
@NurseBass3 ай бұрын
Nicole sent them to me years ago spontaneously as a gift of good will and I let them collect dust lol. Great content tho

Can I take this without ICU experience? I want to be a CRNA but I don’t want to work in the ICU.
@kajmiiir__RN_BSN_CCRN3 ай бұрын
No. To be a CRNA you must have at least one year in a critical care settings and to take this exam you must have 1,750 critical care unit worked hours or 2 recent years in a critical care setting to take the CCRN exam.
