Good plan. I am about to try it out. Tried getting my CISSP back in 2020 along with my PMP and AWS Solutions Arc cert. Passed the PMP, failed the AWS, and they closed the testing facilities before I was able to take the CISSP. I haven't been working heavily in cybersecurity since then, and just took the 50 question practice test, scoring a 62%. Some things were very familiar, others I don't remember learning about. How do I do a good self-assessment of my value in the cyber security field based on my current education? Is there a tool where I can drag and drop my certs, degree, experience, etc? And figure out quantitatively how much I bring to a table for a given organization in regards to cybersecurity? How are the years or experience determined and by who? If you been in the industry for 15y and at a “senior level” the last 5-7 years, are you qualified?

As a Sr System Engineer, I handle mostly firewall and switch management, AD, and everything in between in some shape form or fashion. So I would say yes I hit at least 2-3 domains but that’s why I am curious how it is determined. Good faith, references, both, or those and some?

From what you've described, I don't think you're going to have a problem. I think they followed up on my work experience. If they follow up on yours, it would mean they're talking to somebody in your chain of command which would be a good thing I think. Then, after you pass the exam you need another CISSP vouch for you.

During my prepation using other Exam material on the internet, I found stuff that are NOT covered in Sybex's study guide. Is it possible that the real exam will contain material that's not covered by the guide?
@InsideCloudAndSecurity
@InsideCloudAndSecurity 7 ай бұрын
Sybex guide includes an "Exam Essentials" section at the end of each chapter, pointing out probable exam topics. The CISSP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) will cover more topics, often in greater depth.

Did you have your exam test date selected before you began studying?
@InsideCloudAndSecurity
@InsideCloudAndSecurity 3 жыл бұрын
Good question. I didn't set a date until after a self assessment (practice quiz)/ gap analysis and a pass through study guide table of contents. I needed to know that the date selected was realistic in terms of giving myself time to prepare. I think setting a date before you've analyzed your knowledge gaps is pretty risky given the price tag of this exam.

Hello Pete, After extensive searches on the net, I recently came across your channel and great advices from the provided videos They are amazing and I am about to start the work towards the CISSP certification During this "pass in 2 weeks" video, you mention (11:22) that it is better to leverage "study notes" from someone rather than creating from scratch your own. You advise about links in the comments to access some of them. I am unable to find. Can you please provide? PS : I understand study notes are different from the powerpoint materials for each domain that you have shared in the complete 8h course description Thanks much!

@@InsideCloudAndSecurity Thank you, response much appreciated. However this is not what I am asking for : there is NO link in the full 2022 course description that points to any study notes. There are only links to the pdf presentations of the modules. It looks like If I don't find any existing notes to leverage, I am going to have to write them from scratch - I'd like to avoid this as much as possible, i.e. do things the way you advise. Any chance for me to have access to any, even if they are extensive? Thanks much in advance again.

I bought the recommended books and was ready to take the quiz to asses to see where I should concentrate on my studying. However, each domain has a practice test that is almost 100 questions per domain and the back of the book has practice questions, however how can I easily tell which ones for the back of the book are for which domain? For example if I miss 30 questions in back of the book the questions are not linked to a domain so I won’t know how to determine what domain to concentrate on
