@@Prison2Profit I’m a firm believer that a strong inventory system right from the beginning will help resellers as they grow. I think a lot of resellers make the mistake of not starting a inventory system until they get 300-500 items in a store and then it’s hard and time consuming to go back and fix it. I’ve changed my system a few times but this definitely is working the best and this same system could easily be implemented for small stores. Appreciate you watching Tae

You are so fun to watch!! Wondering how you packed those last western books. They looked like hardbacks. Do you just put them as is into those mailers? I have mostly hardbacks, hence my question. Also, what do you do with books that have been on your shelves a long time? You have been truly successful. A joy to learn from.
@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
They were a hard back with a soft type leather look cover. I gave them a wrap in bubble wrap for extra protection and then put them in a padded mailer and sent as usual. I normally don’t give the added wrap of bubble wrap unless it’s a very expensive book or more fragile. I always just send books and book bundles in the mailers with no problems. I will often wrap the mailer with bundles in some tape though just to make sure the books don’t slip around in the mailer during the shipping process.

@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
Hi and welcome! I don't use the same SKU number because they loose their sticky but also I run the books in order so I can keep pushing them along like a conveyer belt. If i had to keep going back to insert them in specific spots it would be time consuming for me.
@katiem1716

I’m not sure if you have explained this, but I’m wondering how your numbering system works as you sell the books. Do you save the post-its to reuse the numbers for new listings? Otherwise I would think the shelves would start to empty out and then everything would have to be compressed and moved around to make space at the end for higher numbers as you list more books. I can’t think of what the most efficient way to handle that would be...
@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
Every few days I push the books along the shelves and then add more new listed books to the end. So it's just like a rolling inventory. Eventually I will have the whole store with this inventory system I don't reuse the post it notes as they don't hold their stick. When I photograph the books they all get given a SKU number then so it's easy to add it straight to the listing and add the books to the end of the row. I hope that makes sense.

Hi Mel, Great vid. I really like your SKU system. What do you do when you sell a heap of books from the same shelf. The shelf space becomes free and you add new books to the free shelf. IE. Books 1-300 fills a shelf. 6 months later the shelf is half free so books 1000 to 1200 are added? Or is it a case of constantly moving and shuffling?

don't you get dust all over your books with them stacked uncovered like that? And don't they get damaged? It looks like a lot of them are falling over or diagonal resting on the pages, so that seems like creases waiting to happen. I've got around 400 books right now and I've individually ziplock-bagged all of them (with unique SKUs written in sharpie) to keep them dust free and safe from bugs and stuff. But seeing your setup makes me wonder if I need to do that.

Do you reuse your SKU post-its, or do you just keep counting upwards?
@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t re use them. They lose stick but also it would be annoying and time consuming to have to put new listed books away in specific areas after photographing. So about twice a week I push all the books along and then new books get added to the end. Like a conveyor belt.

Question : how do you work out postage ?
@backfromburnout
@backfromburnout 3 жыл бұрын
I charge free postage on my books and then use the cheapest post I can. But they mainly go in flat rate padded mailers which all have weight limits of up to 5kg.

Ha ha. Yes! Lol. I did buy a new camera but it’s not wide enough for the shed. I will look at getting a go pro for my head soon I think since a lot of the videos I make are of me doing stuff in the shed. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed it :)

@@backfromburnout I always enjoy your videos. They're so helpful. I'm not at the level you are by any means, but enjoying selling some books and have a few clothes I have collected over a couple of years that I think are saleable. I actually have a storage unit now, and hopefully will get a slightly bigger one soon. Just waiting for a lady to give hers up. Here in regional NSW they're a bit like hens' teeth at the moment.

No I don’t want to grow more then this :) And plans are to build a shed at our new house later in the year. But I do need to go through shelf by shelf in the death pile room and give it a cull. Some of the books in there I don’t want to list unless I can bundle them. That’s the next step! So that should free some space :)
