How I Retwist My Own Locs | Using SuperGro Hair Gel | Rubberband Method | 4 Months No Retwist

In this video I show you how I retwist my own locs at home using no clips…Okay one clip was used, but this is mostly using the rubber band method. My hair is what some would call semi free forming locs but I just call it locs that are only retwisted 3-4 times year. I used SuperGro Hair Gel to retwist and the palm roll method. This is my third time doing this so I would say I am definitely still an amateur at retwisting my own hair.

Thanks for sharing🤎! One way I use to remember my retwist direction is whether I’m retwisting towards or away from my face. Twisting to the right = twisting toward my face😊. Hope this helps! You & your locs are so beautiful🤩!

Girl, the skin, the smile, the locs 😍 do you separate your roots/parts in between retwists because it seemed so effortless for you in regards to this step. Or is that due to you being locked for a long duration of time so your hair just knows where to go? 😂 I’m trying to learn ways to extend my retwist/not be painful when I start my locs

Thank you so much! I pull them apart after every wash. In the back they definitely have to be separated. In the middle and front my hair is not as thick and grows into the loc more so it's easier. Two or four strand twists help me maintain my retwist a little longer. Good Luck with your new Loc Journey 💞

What do I do first of all,and what do I use? My neighbor has had dreads for about 3 or 4 years now and I am sure that she has never retwisted them, and now she has asked me to re twist them for her. I do a lot of things with hair from braids to natural to perms, but I have never done dreads before. I really want to help her because she can't raise one of her arms anymore. Please help me to help her.

Your locs are beautiful… I have locs over a year and 2 months but my frizz is soo over powering with just oil and water about time I’m finished it doesn’t look like it was retwist… weed patch city😭😭😭😭. I love and hate it sometimes maybe I will try the SuperGro gel and see what happens

I have frizz too. Spray n Lock is another product I've used to retwist that has a tighter hold.

I think one of the main points of these types of videos is the see the final result after drying so that was a bit disappointing. I just saw you retwisting with product like any other person retwisting with product but when it dries how does it look, feel, update: did it last? I'm curious cause I'm about to loc my hair and I want to know a locking gel to buy while buying my clips cause oil and water won't so the trick and I want a good hold without flakes or anything. It's been 5 months so any sign of build up?

I've actually used this product for a year. No build up and the hold is good not as strong as black gel would be but a healthier alternative.
