How I Rig The Bass Mafia Daingerous Swimbait (Line Thru)

Here is one of my favorite ways to modify a "freestyle" or "unrigged" swimbait and make them a line thru. I love rigging my Bass Mafia Daingerous Swimbait this way because it allows me to land more fish by removing the leverage of the bait vs traditional rigging methods.

Hey man what size and brand rivets did you get? I was going to order a big pack online but didn’t wanna get wrong size

This method just saved my magdraft, after the second fish i caught the magnet fell off and it was useless because the hook would just fall down and snag... so i bent one of the hooks out like you did it now stays in place and maybe i can catch a few more before its toast.

Great setup John. I just started throwing bigger swimbaits and caught a 5lber at Pickwick a couple weeks ago. I was using a MagDraft. Would I be able to rig the freestyle MagDraft like this as well?

I feel like it give the bait the most natural movement and presentation. And you're right, the hookup ratio is phenomenal

is there a name/size/type you can share for that rivet? Length? weight?

I believe the one I use is called a "Fattube". You can get a few different weight sizes, I like the 1/8 oz and I can up the weight if needed with the bullet weight that is added.

@@JohnHunterFishing The Fat tubes (sold @ TW) comes weighted or unweighted. If that's what you used, a brass one is weighted from like 1/8 up to 1/2 (which you didn't discuss, if in fact it was a Fat Tube). The unweighted one is like a plastic/non-brass. And if one wanted only a 1/8 oz. weight, there would be no need to use a bullet weight as you would simply purchase the 1/8 oz. model of the brass Fat Tube. So, I'm a bit confused myself. I have seen in other threads where guys do use "rivets" as the sleeve (similarly coffee stirrers. red straw with WD-40, ball point pen sleeve, etc.). Rivets look like the Fat Tube but wouldn't come in various weights. The Fat Tube was designed specifically for this purposes - it's an effective sleeve, but also serves as the weight (var. models), eliminating the need for a separate worm weight tucked inside the swimbait belly.

Nope! It's really no different than a guide on a rod. They are specifically designed for this application
