Thank You Danny for saving your MOM's spider plants, you know that it brakes my heart when I see plants not cared properly.....I am experiencing dementia and some times I hurt my plants, like over watering or forgtetting to water them. i really like the shelfs you arrange with those BLOCKS ! Keep loving the plants GOD gave us for our enjoinment .....

I recently got a spider plant from my bf's mom & it was thriving indoors! But I brought it outside & it was all good until the weather became colder. Now I brought it inside & it started wilting more, but the stems are still green so there's still hope. Thank you so much for journey, I learned a lot & am determined to save my lil guy!

Thank you Ange! I will definitely make a video about how I created the pot pond. Its pretty simple though. I just went to the hardware store, found a big pot, water proofed it using silicon and aquarium safe glue. I then lined it with pebbles and aquatic lillies. I usually have fantails in the pond as they are quite cold tolerant. They love it, especially in summer.

@@gloriayoung6219 Yes plenty of rain water is actually better than tap water! Only thing I'll say is just make sure its not in direct sunlight as the leaves will turn brown really quickly. They are super sensitive :) I love hearing about your progress though!

There are three main ways to propagate spider plant babies: by cutting them off and planting them alone in soil; by planting them in soil while they are still attached to the mother plant, severing them off of the mother plant later; and by rooting them in water.

Killed a few of those and your video just convinced me to get another one. I was gifted last year several spider plant babies but sadly they did not do well in the area I placed them in. Now I know, so probably getting them again but after summer. It's so hot here in my place, Manila. Thanks for the tips.🪴

@@botanidanny Me too! It seemed to perk them up. Im wondering if the soil I used was too dense so when I do repot I will add more perlite and make it airier. Great vieo! They are such a popular plant but I think many people put them in too high light and they suffer for it.
@botanidanny
@botanidanny Жыл бұрын
@@mollys1584 I am so glad that they are perking up! I honestly didn't realise just how much water they actually like. Its a lot! I think repotting is a good idea especially if its not doing well in the current soil. I've made so many mistakes with Spider plants. Initially I thought they'd make great bathroom plants but it turns out they really didn't like my bathroom. As soon as I changed its position and put it on my nursery shelf, they honestly started to thrive. I agree. They are super sensitive to too much sunlight.

I would have placed those attached Plantlets on a separate moistened soil in a pot. This allows those Plantlets to also pull in moisture without stressing the parent plant.

Hi Danny is it better for spider plant in a hanging basket?
@botanidanny
@botanidanny Жыл бұрын
You can put them in a hanging basket or pot. Theyre pretty good at filtering indoor air. It probably looks better in a hanging basket so that the spiderettes hang down. When mine settle in more, Ill probably transfer them over to a hanging pot, so yes! Also I have propagated a few baby spiderettes into my terrariums which they are loving, stay tuned for a future video ☺️

My spider plant has sooooo many babies i dont need to plant up as ive already got too many and given away to friends and neighbours. I think the babies look nice but have never kept them on the mother plant before. But this time id like to leave the babies on the mother plant but dont know if this is normal to do so. What would you advise
@botanidanny
@botanidanny Жыл бұрын
Gday! You can leave them connected to the mother plant. They’ll be fine. However, because they are still connected, the mother plant may need extra water to feed all of the extra baby spiderettes. It sounds like your spider plant is very healthy! ❤️🌿☺️

I accidentally over watered my spider plants. (Poor drainage in planter) I backed off + they seem better. I'm about to replant them into pots with better drainage. Do they need to stay a bit moist, or sl. dry top of soil before watering?
@botanidanny
@botanidanny Жыл бұрын
They actually like lots of water. But having at least one drainage hole is good. I literally showered the two spider plants in the video with water every day and they seemed to love it. They are quite sensitive to sunlight. Lots of filtered light is best

Hi, hoping you can advise me. I bought a not so good looking spider plant, a day ago. I think I should take it back. What do you think?
@botanidanny
@botanidanny 4 ай бұрын
You could take it back. Depends how healthy or unhealthy it is. Spider plants are suuuuper hardy. They look like they wont make it, but given the right conditions they will survive. Id put it in a shady area and water it lots on a daily basis. If it has spiderlings, Id propagate them into new pots too.

So Did You Say My Spider Plant needs to have holes in the bottom of planter?
@botanidanny

I have holes at the bottom of the two pots in the video. They do like lots of water. Some people even propagate the spiderettes in little glass jars of water. So its probably ok to leave the base on. I personally prefer the water to be able to drain out though
