the darkest tone of shade isn't on the edge, but close to it. The reason of that is reflection of the surface it's staying on. For clearer explanation, aka example, the light would come from the top left, and hit the object and the surface it's laying on, so the light will mirror and reflect onto the shape, so a slight highlight on the other side would look good too. Nevertheless, this tutorial is really helpful and well, you've done really good. Thank you!

tip shadows arent just black with a lower opacity its ambient light if you look outside at day time uoi will see the shadows don't look black/grey they look blue-ish and the direct light from the top should have a slight tint of a warmer colour now don't make it very harsh just if you look hard enough you will see it and you cant unsee it (yes I know this isn't in very much detail and it prob makes no sense lol)

no it makes sense i think i've heard this before. something about blue light and yellow light and how you should make shadows a little colder and highlights warmer (in natural lighting) or something

@@frogchamp.4697 thats what i was saying if its the morning tour not gonna be in black and white highlights and shadows you prob will have yellow-orangish light for the highlights and a colder blue-ish shadow and then have a more saturated version of the highlight for subsurface scattering (example: if you shine a flashlight through your finger it would be a very saturated red that's subsurface scattering) it just makes have a more realistic feel

@@Godlynugget-I-Guess it does but you can make black shading look good too. plus they made the ball in monochrome just to showcase lighting so it probably doesn't matter in this case. anyways cool
