Nice video! Your experience and mine run a few parallels. I run a design and copywriting business in Hiroshima. Completely right about the 4yr mark. Our fourth year was a real terror on us. After we sort of made it through that line things surely got better. But entrepreneurship in Japan is easy no feat. and we still have to take hits all the time. I saw your website as well. While I'm not trying to sell anything to you, it could use a bit of an "update"...From one Canadian to another, if you want to connect reply back and, we can exchange details. - Ben LeMar.

Great video. Your information on yearly fees to an accountant for company tax returns was very interesting. I help run a tax and bookkeeping firm in Canada and always find it interesting to see what other countries do and charge. On a side note, my husband and I just returned from a trip to Japan and fell in love with the country. We are earnestly seeking a way to go back and, who knows, maybe with a visas that doesn't just have a visitors stamp on them. Thank you for making such informative videos. Best wishes!

Hmmm... interesting but once you mentioned Japanese wife I knew you had it easy (-ish). No problem with business visas, work permits, all the immigration hassles that comes from not being married to a resident. That would be one of the biggest obstacles. The rest is plain sailing.

As you brought up the dealer # in this video, I don't remember seeing it in the correct place. I see the dealer # on your home page but I think you are unaware that you need the Kobutsusho-Kyokasho Certificate # in your lower header that will appear on every page.

+EP Importers This might depend on the area that you are a registered company. For us, this is not needed... or was not when we registered in 2008.
@EPimporters
@EPimporters 8 жыл бұрын
+Derek Weldon, Good point it may have not been a requirement when you registered. Either way I would think you need to comply to the updated rules. I say this cause I think all police station regulations are the same. I can confidently say this since I have relocated my business to 3 different prefectures. lol Just looking out for you, hence we are very similar cause we are honest people as a person can get and don't want to do anything illegal. ;) If the police station has been doing there duties, they should visit every 2yrs or so to make sure you are not doing wrong and give you any updates etc.

Hi Derek While Japanese car are reliable, how easy to source parts if needed without a hassle. I ask because imported models don’t show up based of there registration like euro car parts. Let me know. Thanks.

Hi Mr.derek your videos are very useful. I'm a student yet and I want to quit my studies and migrate to japan to do car business. As you mentioned in the video is that only graduated ones can start business in japan ? or only it matters when I'm registering my own business as a profitable company??

Mike Egidi Thanks Mike. I hope so too but each sale doesn't bring in a lot of money. If I hire someone, they will have to make 15 - 20 sales per month to break even. That is a lot for a new staff that will have to train an awful lot.

+Mike Egidi When you get to a certain point in your life and you are ready to do something even in the middle of the night you will get up to write notes, to think and do. For some people bred and educated in the silicon valley system it comes early sometimes in the teens and early 20s and for others it comes later in life 30s & 40s when they are more mature, have had time to think, plan and at the very least be mentally ready. For an entrepreneur there is little to no thought for work time because you are always thinking of how to succeed and not wanting to fail. There is nobody but you to depend on.

I'm considering a complete relocation to Japan. I run a successful audio repair shop in my present location, as a sole proprietor, but political climate is making it difficult as well as the cultural decline, so me and the wife want to get out as soon as possible. We need to sell our home, find a way to move all of our equipment, home theater, recording studio stuff, etc, possibly by container ship, to rural Japan. The wild card are the laws, getting up and running, getting my physical assets into Japan (cost of the container ship, any import taxes, etc), getting a market, and buying real estate and building an energy efficient and comfortable home. This is a huge leap across an abyss for us, and we are looking for resources that can make the transition possible.

i really need to marry a Japanese woman then - i mean to setup the business is the easiest part - the problem is for those who do not have any visa - it would require a business manager visa which has a high cost - thus no guarantee the government will approve it....a local can simply put 1 yen as capital !!!! so might as well register my company and hire myself as highly skilled
