My Hooping Idol journey ended early but I what I gained from being a part of this process is so priceless to me. When you're in a competition like this, it really isn't about winning, it's about what you make out of the experience for yourself, how you decide to value your success and your failure as a learning experience within a grander plan. So I'm taking this opportunity to be very thankful for what I achieved and created, thankful for the people who I connected to because of this competition, and the ability to see that failure is only one more step towards success.
Since I work in marketing, I had to analyze that perspective as well. In a marketing sense, this is a learning opportunity about sticking to your established pattern with your audience and followers. All my followers on KZfaq and Facebook expected a video from me Sunday evening and because I was insecure about my work, I didn't complete it until the deadline was sneaking up on me. I didn't post the Fantasy Week video in time and everyone went to bed. Whoops. If ever there was a time the quote "The real world rewards those who get things done not perfectionists" was applicable, it's right now.
For those of you thinking of doing Hooping Idol in the future, if you build up an expectation for your audience, stick to your posting schedule and focus on getting the work DONE! That's more important. If I had just uploaded the first version that I had edited, I would've found out around 11pm that my video was blocked worldwide and would've had enough time to fix it and also still get some engagement from those who were following my journey. It's very possible that not making this mistake wouldn't have resulted in a different outcome, but we can analyze it anyway and see what there is to learn.
