Pretty trippy built in tuning lug thingy design. Kinda cool... What are the positives and negatives about that vs standard claws?. Just a random detail since you mentioned all the EMAD heads... I found the regular EMAD (single ply) has more BOOM (808 style) where the others have just a little less boom and more attack. Incidentally, I've never had the plastic holder crack before...like 0 for 6 or something, all stayed intact for their lifetime. And I hit fairly hard (Just FYI to anyone who might be concerned about that).

The EMAD ring holder thingy doesn’t crack anymore... It WAS a known issue, but Evans stepped up and resolved the issue. I thought it would be fair to Evans to point that out. And I gotta say, the EMAD is a really great head.

I use the EMADs as well and love them other than the occasional cut fingers swapping out the foam rings...so be careful kids. I have no problems with cracking so I don't know what that is all about.

I pretty much do the same general thing except that I don't use the muffling ring. I just use a traditional pillow. Not even a specialized one. Just a simple throw pillow that I lightly lean on the batter head. Not exactly a bad video, but I wish you had recorded some audio of the drum, otherwise we have no real reference for what that tuning and methods will do to the drum's sound.

To be fair he has more lugs than most kicks and for the sound he’s going for it doesn’t make that large of a difference

2:15: why do drummers spend on the finest resonant shell sets, only to buy accessories and do setups that prevent the drums from resonating? Have you considered selling the drum, and replacing it with a large plastic pail?

Totally dude. He's got EMAD super muffled head, Evans muffling pillow and an 8 year old front head with a super deep resonance cancelling 'O' ring... Oh we're DROWNING in tone. Blech. I have a Sonor thin maple SQ2 20"x19". P3 Clear batter, P3 fiberskyn reso with 5" hole. Just an old cotton T-shirt in the middle touching neither head (to soak up the interior laquer's "beach ball" sound". Now THAT's thunder. What are your guy's cannon / head combos?

OK, One screw missing sounds ridiculous and you don't even ear the "thunder sound" BUT... WHAT IF HE WAS RIGHT? this are the things he suggest : 1- Flabby Batter head / with the Emad ring 2- Tightenned front head / with kick port Simple trick? Why not? Does it work? Go check it! I'll do Peace ;)

Is it really necessary to write the date on the drumhead? 😂 Just change it when you feel it needs changed. It's not rocket science here..

Necessary? No. However, it's a helpful indicator to determine how long your batter head lasts with regular use.

We don't want our bass drum to resonate like our toms!! Go tell Keith Carlock, Joey Baron, or Gary Novak that!!! Why are you even wasting money on a Bass drum?? Just get a big cardboard box and coat it with Polyurethane and it'll sound about the same.

Well, some people do want their bass drums to sound like toms. I don't and you don't, but that doesn't mean no one else should as well.
