update November 2021: My hair is much longer and curlier now. For a few years I had been using a wooden brush and currently use a large tooth wooden comb. I use it the same way as I show in this video. edit to add: I use shampoo and conditioner now but yes I used dishsoap for my hair for a number of years. I don't know why this upsets people so much😂 I'm not telling YOU to use it!

You might try hask argon oil to moisturize and style your curls. A half pea should do it and it soaks in to your hair in about 15 min without looking oily or crunchy. It really helps the curls clump and look nice.

@@amberfrazier575 good tip, thanks! Does argan oil have a smell? I can't use anything scented.

Thanks for the update the brush makes curls especially when you use product brush then a bonnet or wave cap. I'm trying to get waves which are laid down curls but instead of cutting my hair I'm going to let it grow and once every 3 months use a nudred sponge to lift the formed curls up.

I don't have oily hair, or skin really, but I have read that with your skin, if it is oily it is because it is overproducing to combat dry skin, so the hair thing makes sense. I love my boar bristle brush though, for helping to smooth frizziness. I have naturally curly hair, but it's VERY frizzy (if I so much as think about humidity, it frizzes up), and also very thin. I definitely don't wash mine everyday either - no need!!! A tip that I do/love - I condition my ends FIRST, and THEN I shampoo just the roots. It doesn't dry out the ends, and it gives me some natural volume. Thanks for this video! :) Your hair is lovely.

Soap is soap the industry has convinced us we have to have ten types of soap in the house but you can buy a bottle of dr Brauner soap and use it for everything but the dishwasher. Sure some put extra oil or better quality oil for tasks that require more moisture but for the most part we all know soap is soap.

I know they say do it with your head down but this section after section thing... Seriously feels better. I pulled a crap ton of hairs when I do it the other way. Probably dead hairs (we lose 100 hairs a day debate) but I like this better. Thanks 🙏🏼

You and I not only have the same hair type but also the same hairline pattern. Also, I tried doing this and I ended up pulling so much hairs. Did you loose any hair using the boar bristle brush? And how much hair do you loose on wash days in general?
@ChristinaOurWoodHome
@ChristinaOurWoodHome 2 жыл бұрын
I lose a lot of hairs, but I think it is a normal amount🤷🏻‍♀️ My hair is much, much longer now so I notice the shed hairs easier. I honestly don't remember if I lost a lot of hairs using this brush. I don't think I lose a lot when I wash my hair but I don't really keep track. Is your hair tangled and that is why you lose so much hair when brushing?
@brokenbutterfly3178
@brokenbutterfly3178 2 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinaOurWoodHome when you say normal amount, I assume you mean anywhere between 50-100 hairs a day cause that's what Google says and that's how much hair I loose in a day too but idk man, I think google is wrong. There are so many haircare channels out there and alot of them have really long and thick hair. Ours is more fine and thin. Anyways, I left the same question on their channels and the answer I got back was just a few strands of hair. Even the people that I personally know with gorgeous hair, loose no more then 10 hairs per wash and here we have Google saying that it's normal to loose a 100 hair in a day.
@ChristinaOurWoodHome
@ChristinaOurWoodHome 2 жыл бұрын
@@brokenbutterfly3178 hmmm, that seems like a normal amount to me🤷🏻‍♀️ I never really thought about it though! My hair is actually quite thick and heavy! In this video it was needing a wash, so it looked more "stringy" and thin due to the natural oils. If you watch my newer hair care video, you can see the current length and thickness.

@@ChristinaOurWoodHome I'll check it out. Perhaps I'm wrong. Also, I do try to detangle my hair with a comb before I proceed to use the boar bristle brush but I still end up pulling out hair. Perhaps it's something new to me and my hair need time adjusting to it. Anyways, thank you for replying back.

Yes I used dish soap for washing my hair. It worked well and was cost effective. My hair and scalp were never dry or damaged from it. I used to use a brand that had minimal ingredients.
