7 weeks since seeding the Barenbrug Lawn, and it's looking OK in most part, but some areas are in need of help.
This video, following a granular feed last week, I am applying some liquid feeds to bring on the grass a little more, with a bit more nitrogen, along with other bits and pieces to try and push the top growth and thicken up the sward.

Ethofumesate used correctly destroys poa, safe on rye, full drench of soil watered in will act as a pre emergant for poa and will weaken existing poa, followed up 14 days later with a spot spray left to sit on leaf. My rye has been pretty much poa free for past couple years

Hi Shaun. Great tip. Had a look at this stuff and it seems to be a pro only herbicide unless you can advise otherwise. If so I'll look to get some to test and see how it performs. Pitchcare have a great write up on it's effectiveness

Here in NZ the latest label use is as I mentioned above, which maybe considered 'off label' use in other countries, not sure, but I soil drench once early-mid spring watered in as a pre-emergant and when the odd poa shows up early-mid summer I use the water in then 14 days later spray leaf method. Plant turns brown, dies, then pull it out. I think usage has changed since pitchcare articles.

One of the top lawns in the country. I think you could have a bit of brown patch fungus on the bottom part of the new lawn. Were you watering a lot during the warm spell? If it is brown patch it's a bit like red thread. Only affects the leaf not the crowns or roots 👍

Bold call, but I'll take it!!! 😅 Not massively watering, but it had been warm and wet in the north West which may have contributed to the the issue but 24hours on from the application it's look much better

Lawns are looking great as always bud, with the brown patches it’s a bit of a puzzle but that’s the joys of lawncare figuring it and and putting it right. I’ve been eyeing up a lot of greencare products maybe to go along side the stuff I currently use. Finally keep up the graft, great job!

Lawns looking nice buddy… I know it might be a long shot, and like WTF, but those brown patches, could it be leather jackets munching away… killed 3 this morning (4am) on my lawn, which is about a dozen I’ve found over the last week. Might be worth just really wetting the area and covering it with some heavy black covering overnight and see if there’s any in the morning… works best if it’s hot to sweat them out so to speak. Noticed you walked on those nice white stones after spraying iron… I’m sure your well on it but it can stain… if you do find it does, wheel cleaner that turns red (any brand) will sort it out. Love your channel 👍

@steveg7739 cheers Steve! Hope it's not leatherjackets as this area was dug right up 10 weeks ago, about 6 inches down and replaced with the rootzone. But it could be. Not sure how deep the buggers root, but if they've come up a bit into the sand and now feasting I'll be very annoyed! Not to worry about the limestone. A cheap filler to expand the driveway. I twist the wrist to keep it off as much as poss, but it's chelated so should minimise if not eliminate the possibility of staining. *currently searching Amazon for black tarpaulin, nematodes and flamethrowers 🤣*

@TheReelMowingMowingClub 28 күн бұрын
Nah, my guy has got better music than my 80s stuff! 🤣. Yes I have, my wife will tell you a story on how I used some excess on the plants, turned them brown along with staining the pots!! Can be removed with brake cleaner (ProKleen do a product called Dragons Blood) and it removes the iron staining.a faff but will come out (and looks cool when it's working!!) If the Iron is Chelated (like this stuff I used (first time I've used it)) it's not supposed to stain. So if you get liquid iron, make sure its chelated to reduce the risk of stains.
@steveg7739
@steveg7739 27 күн бұрын
@@HeyoAds0 you can always wet the patio area first before spraying iron, will help with any overspray and then a rinse after as well. Also if you do get a stain, I’ve found using a wheel cleaner that turns red (dissolves iron) will definitely help if not get all the stain out. 👍

Hello Julie. Just started using this, but I checked on the coverage on my sprayer to see how much one pass will take, and base it on there. The back lawn will use 12 ltrs in 1 pass, so will use 24g of product. Will be looking to apply ever 2 - 4 weeks, but will let the grass dictate this to me as and when it needs it. Hope this helps

Looking lovely mate, but I feel your pain with the browning areas. It is so disheartening to see it happen. Mine has started browning in some areas also, but I put mine down to mowing it too short and lack of water. So I am going to start mowing at about 35mm now during this time of year, so it is less likely to get heat stressed. We have had so little rain that both my water butts are bone dry, and I have not been watering the lawns, so think that is why mine is browning. Do you water yours regularly? If not, may be why you are getting those brown areas also🤔
@TheReelMowingMowingClub
@TheReelMowingMowingClub 27 күн бұрын
I know. I was worried if it's damage from mowing, if it's over feeding, or what. Watering has been OK. 1 per week, but we've had so much rain recently it's had plenty to be fair. Hoping it's not fusarium like Steve says. Need to keep an eye on it over the next week hoping the products help it out.

@@TheReelMowingMowingClub Provonto plus spray from Tesco plus sprinkle a few seeds on the areas .it was only 3.5 weeks after seeding so it filled in 2 weeks later and was all green. There has been dew most morning for the past couple of weeks. I have been watering at 5 am to minimize the water on the grass lol. The signs go once the grass browns. Have a look very early in the morning when dew is on the lawn. It could also be red thread. With red thread you will nice pink areas. Fusarium looks like foam / spiderwebs early on in the mornings when dew is on the lawn.

As I watch I kinda think to myself there is no secret to having a great lawn the key really is applying an awful lot of products as have been applied to these lawns. They do work though but as somebody with a 1000sqm it’s not financially viable to apply to the same level of products unfortunately.
@TheReelMowingMowingClub
@TheReelMowingMowingClub 26 күн бұрын
The "secret sauce" used in this video was the bumper crop high nitrogen fertiliser. That 1kg bag which cost about £8.50, will make 2000ltrs of product. I have not seen another product on the market that has this level of nutrients and elements in it, cheaper than this. The main thing is to cut regularly and feed it often. It's the same as anything, if you want something better, it will cost more. Cars, houses, food. Even if you look at fitness. You can go to the gym twice a week and eat what you normally eat and you could be in a better position than some one who dosent. But for the people who want the six pack, wide shoulders, superior muscle definition etc, they train 5 - 7 days a week, they spend money on high end, nutrient rich foods, costly supplements etc. If you have a 1000m² lawn, suspect you have a pretty big house too. Mow it often and feed it and it will look better
