I like that junk journals are sustainable.

You're absolutely right, one of the things I love most about junk journaling is how sustainable it is. Being able to give new life to materials that would otherwise be thrown away or recycled is so satisfying ❤️

I'm just getting into junk journaling and I love it. I am trying to get a good feel for it before trying to introduce it as a craft for the teens at my library. Love this video. Thank you so much for sharing.

My pleasure! Thank you so much for your kind words about the video - I'm glad it's providing helpful inspiration as you explore the world of junk journaling! What an awesome idea to introduce junk journaling as a craft for the teens. It's such a fantastic creative outlet that taps into their self-expression, and resourcefulness. Using repurposed materials fosters sustainability too. Taking time to immerse yourself first and get a good feel for the various techniques is smart. Junk journaling has so many different facets. By trying it yourself first, you'll have more insight into where to start and how to guide the teens based on their interests. If you have suggestions on what junk journal topics you would like me to cover in future videos, just let me know! Would try to make videos about those topics

@@ChoosingBliss Wow, thank you for you for your thoughtful response. Our theme this summer is "Read, Renew, Repeat" focusing on conservation, I thought the recycling aspect of junk journals would dovetail nicely with that. I am binge-watching a bunch of channels and just found yours. I like your style and find your videos somehow both informative and relaxing. I will definitely be binging and asking questions. ^_^ Thanks so much!

I love this video. I don't know why KZfaq hasn't included you in my home feed before. I've been making junk journals for over 3 years. I don't journal as much as I like. I prayer journal every day but I haven't really wanted to be super creative in my prayer binder. My personal journal is for creativity and writing about my life, my thoughts, my feelings, etc. This video is great.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words about the video! I'm happy to connect with a fellow junk journaler who has been enjoying this creative passion for years. It's so wonderful that you've found a system that works for you. Having distinct spaces dedicated to different intentions and purposes makes total sense. I can definitely relate to going through ebbs and flows with how often I actively journal or create new pages and spreads. Some seasons feel more creatively inspired than others. The beauty is that our junk journals are always there waiting patiently when we're ready to return to them!

Thank you very much for sharing your junk journal. It was very helpful to see how you incorporated writing, collage, stamping and creativity to document your experience, collect quotes, and preserve memorabilia. I wondered if you use your journal sequentially or if you skip around as you are creating? Do you add writing and/or images here and there as you go along, or complete each page or spread one after another? Thankyou! Thankyou!
@ChoosingBliss
@ChoosingBliss 5 ай бұрын
My pleasure! I'm glad you found the video helpful. I don't journal sequentially in my junk journal, but I do put the dates for each entry. I prefer adding images, ephemera, and writing as I go along, choosing a page depending on my mood or whatever project I'm working on at the time. Sometimes I'll get into a really creative flow and decorate several pages in one sitting if I'm feeling particularly inspired. Other times, I'll simply add a little bit here and there - maybe sticking in a ticket stub from an event I attended or quickly jotting down some thoughts in an available journaling spot. How about you? What's your process of using your junk journals?
@debcox7839
@debcox7839 5 ай бұрын
@@ChoosingBliss thank you for sharing. Since I am not fond of my penmenship, I tend to like doing the majority of my writing in tuck spots, pockets and on pretty tags, but I like how your journal looks with writing visible and integrated with images and ephemera. I think I am going to try your method of selecting a page you want to work on or add to rather than moving sequentially through the book. ❤

@@debcox7839 I'm glad the video gave you some fresh ideas to incorporate into your journaling practice. Good to know that you're open to trying new approaches like my method of working on pages more spontaneously. Having that flexibility allows you to follow your creative energy in the moment. Some days minimalist writing spaces will call to you, other days you may feel inspired to experiment with blending text more visibly with images and ephemera.

Hi do you cut out the covers and pages yourself? Where do you usually source your covers (are they cardstock material)? How do you handstitch them? (I suck at sewing.) Would like to do this sustainable and DIY journals too. I'd like them to fit into my everyday planner so I can always be reminded to journal. Thanks!
@ChoosingBliss
@ChoosingBliss 4 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes, I cut out the covers and pages using the Traveler's Notebook regular size as a guide. As to the materials of the covers, I use cardstock with design that I bought a long time ago in a craft store or just plain kraft folder we can normally buy in the office supplies/bookstores. Please refer to this video as a guide on how to handstitch your journals: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/itmEn7mWlb7Lp5c.htmlsi=gb7kkOKHD8P99LF6 . Let me know if you have further questions. Thanks!
