Hello there!
This is a fun video where I explore using the OP-1 with the Modular Synth, how I get the audio from the OP-1 into Eurorack, and than a handful of nice patches exploring this idea. There’s a lot of use of modules like Mimeophon and Beads in this, as well as some nice sampled piano from the OP-1, anyway enjoy!

These shots are really incredible! Wonderful soft sun and shadow. Sounds amazing too! Such a fun exploration to mix these worlds together.

Thanks! Yeh I had a lot of fun with this one, and it’s triggered a few more explorations, taking external recordings and manipulating them between the two (more in some upcoming videos!)

OP-1 can send a clock to the modular in the left audio channel if you choose a PO-SYNC mode.

Oh nice! That’s very useful, thanks, I’ll have to look at that (always more to explore for another video!) I do like having the stereo signal though

hey buddy! Beautiful video! And I agree that putting an OP-1 in front of a eurorack is fantastic. I never thought I would like so much OP-1... and far from the aesthetics (I had a friend who bought the equipment more for its aesthetics than if it sounded good or not hehehehe), but yes, apart from small and beautiful is that it is super practical! to be able to play anywhere and leave an idea captured is something very important.

Thanks Hessence! I couldn’t agree more! The portability and immediacy of it are fantastic, it’s so easy to get ideas started with it!

Lovely video which only increases my GAS for Ikarie, despite having too many filters already!

Thanks! It’s a lovely filter (although I think my favourite is still Ripples - but that’s a single filter in the same hp I think, if there was a stereo ripples in 8hp that would be my dream!) but for size/functionality I haven’t seen a better filter than Ikarie (not to increase your GAS any more!)

How I would to see something like Beads built into the op-1 field. Sounds good though!

Ah me too! It would be amazing if they could add another effect that was some kind of granular synth engine, but perhaps it’s too complex/would take up too much memory on the OP-1? But we can still dream!

I thought about this the other day. Imagine a world where TE partnered with Hologram or other companies to bring new dimension to the OP1F. Hope they can make an update to eliminate the feedback loop so we can go out through a pedal or module and back in!

@@NovakTheEnjoyer yes the feedback thing drives me nuts. I’m hoping for some great updates,cause that 2k price tag still hurts. Hahah

This is a really beautiful video! The zooming in and out makes for a great dramatic feel that matches the music. I have to ask.... Do you find your Morphagene to be really noisy? Whenever I want to use the OP1F with my modular I like to go into the Morphagene and the noise floor makes it almost unusable.
@turbotambourine
@turbotambourine 29 күн бұрын
I have neither so don’t mind me if this isn’t helpful but it could be because of the level coming out of the OP1 isn’t modular line level which is higher than normal line level. Are you often amplifying or boosting the signal going in at all before it hits Morphogene? Disregard of course if you do and it’s solely Morphogene that has any issue.
@megamodularis

Thank you! Hmmm yes the Morphagene can sometimes be noisy, I do often forget to use it’s auto levelling which I think would help a bit, depending on the source signal, sometimes it can be a bit too noisy, but often as a patch develops that gets lost, and it’s usually in the quieter parts of recordings that you can hear it, but it’s never stopped me too much, I guess you just have to accept it as a part of the module and move on, try and work around it etc

@turbotambourine yeh this could be a part of it, I go through the Ikarie which can boost the signal a lot, I do think this method is inherently a little noisy, there may be workarounds, for example I often prepare the reels in Logic and export them straight onto the Morphagene’s micro SD card, and I think, if prepared properly, you could eliminate a good amount of the noise, but again, I like this quicker method, cable straight into the modular, so I’ll take a bit of noise in exchange for speed of workflow!

If I were blind, this video would be useless other than the music. However I’m not blind and don’t want to read all the damn text. Ever think of trying utility over pretentiousness?

Hmm, I actually am visually impaired, so I definitely think about the limitations of my videos for visually impaired watchers/listeners, however my purpose is to make the most pleasing, relaxing music I can and tie it to the best visuals I can make, for me the music comes first, and the text is just there to supply additional information, I have thought about doing voice over stuff which a lot of modular KZfaq people do, and I may still do this, but I think this can take away from the music you’re trying to listen to, you don’t have to read anything if you don’t want to, how would you suggest to make this more useful?

@@megamodularis First of all I failed to mention that your videos are very lovely. Maybe the title is what throws me off. “How I use the OP1 field with my modular synth” sounds like an instructional video. Since your purpose is to focus on the music and visuals, which is great, just know that I clicked on the video to learn how to better integrate my OP-1 (not field version) with my modular setup. So when I watch the video it’s frustrating as i can’t get up to go to get a snack or whatever without pausing the video to not miss something. My comment was directed to your video as an instructional one not an entertainment video as you intended.

Ah yeh I see what you mean, I’m still trying to figure out how best to name videos, I guess there’s a balance between a catchy title and doing what it says exactly, yeh I suppose it’s more a bit of fun, and hopefully (as you say, through the text) informative in some way as to how I do it etc. I’m trying to strike the balance between step-by-step/patch from scratch and more fluid entertaining videos? If that makes sense. But like I said, I’m just trying to make pleasant music and nice visuals, and be entertaining? I mean hopefully informative to some degree of course, but I’m still new to making videos and everything so just trying to figure it all out as best I can! Glad you enjoyed some of my videos, despite the ambiguity!

@@megamodularis For your intended purpose your videos are great! If this was titled something as simple as “Making music with my OP-1 and modular”, that changes it to more of a performance than instruction. At least to me. Anyway, I do like your content! Just not to learn from. 😊

Yeh fair enough! I’ll take that on board, and have a think about it, I just changed the title of this video, which I’m happy with, still gets the message across I think, anyway, glad you enjoy the videos! 👍
