In today's video, we cover the Into the Inklands Set Championships and the Emerald/Amethyst Tempo deck I played to a 1st and 2nd place finish last weekend.

This has been the best “how to play” a deck video I’ve seen. Clear, concise, what is the mulligan thought line, here are the first turns. Very nice and keep making videos

Hello sir! My girlfriend played Emerald amethyst and unfortunately did not get to top 4, but this video got her close! You are the first person I’ve seen who shows actual mulligan decisions and that helped her a lot! Thats where she struggles. We both loved watching it twice! Please continue to make this type of content and I will spread the word of it as well!

Update. After watching this video I decided to go to my store championship with this list, expecting a lot of Ruby Amethyst and Pepsi. I think I swapped 3 cards. I didn't drop a match and ended up placing first. I re-watched this like 3 times this last week and took the exact match up tips to each game today. Thanks

Loved this video! Wish I had seen it before I played in my only tournament 😂 I think one of the things that makes Yzma so useful in this deck as that she returns to deck instead of hand. With so many strong “when played”, that can be so helpful to make sure they don’t just re-drop a dragon into the board

Played something kinda similar to this and did great in my local, honestly one of the best options in the game and it’s very budget friendly if you exclude Ursula DOa, which I did. I finally added Ursula after the tournament, but I don’t think it honestly needs it.

Very nice list, played pretty much the same list with different ratios and i like yours better! The only thing i personally changed was take out 1 queens castle and 1 chernabogs to put 2 wildcats for item removal and even to take out some evasive minnies with crabs help. Love the way that card plays! Even managed to bait some rush characters since my opponent didnt know it had evasive Got into the top 8 with a 4-1-1 feeling super confident but got paired up against blue steel which wiped the floor with me sadly. The previous loss was also against blue steel 😂

One question I do have - in the mirror or against other Emerald decks where you suspect 2/3 drop Ursula - Are you keeping songs in your opener to go off with Ursula suspecting they may be running out the 2 drop before you have that opportunity? I assume it's one of the most powerful ways to run away with the game, however also one of the riskier lines.

Against other Emerald deck, I do not keep any songs in my opener. In fact, if I draw Friends on the Other Side, before I'm ready to immediately play it, I will ink it to avoid letting my opponent get value out of their 2 cost Ursula.

Amazing video! What about a mirror match? I'm pretty sure that's what I will fear the most if I run this. Mirrors is generally very hard.

In the mirror, don't keep any songs in your opener. Play 2 drop Ursula to see what your opponent has and try to stick a singer Ursula or Castle

Now I’m not sure if I should play R/S or go back to this where I started in set 3. I played E/S discard and didn’t get my card draw engine going a lot of the times. Came in 9th Saturday and got walloped Sunday.

What a great video! I’ve been playing green purple for some while and I would say I’m pretty ok with the deck. I’m struggling hard against steel song and have tried teching in cards like bounce befuddle Lyle and wildcat. Do you have any opinion on these cards in these matchups? I’ve finished 5th in 2 tournaments and I’m just trying to get across the finish line lol.

Against Steel Song, 2 Drop Ursula is the most important card. If you see multiple songs, bounce her back and replay her as much as possible

I was on Ruby/Saphire on my championship , i got against this deck in my first match-up.. I went 0-2 haha But Im still learning.. Lorcana it's my first TCG..

Love the video! I've also been on a version of this all set. Have you considered cutting Yzma? I used to always run it but after losing at the $5k I felt it was better to lean into the aggro play vs playing a big card, I moved to 2 Maleficent 1 cost. The first tournament i played with that change was the SCG $1k in ATL and I placed second! That change feels so good imo. Also considering the 5 cost Kuzco for that slot to better play against steel decks.

Yzma is definitely a flex spot and could be cut for something else. I have tried 2 one drop Maleficent but personally didn't like it, but if it fits how you like to play the deckI would keep it. I do want to try Kuzco.

This is potentially a silly question, but is the Ursula Double Singer an absolute necessity? I have every other card for the deck except that one. Thank you in advance, very well made video.

That's a tough one and unfortunately yes I do think it is. Otherwise, I would just try and be more aggressive and Amber Amethyst is better at that

What are some tips against hyper aggro decks like Amber Amethyst? Especially if they’re on the draw? Get Rafiki, Madam Mims, Mother Knows Best to stabilize the board in your favor and then Queen’s Castle to regain card advantage? I love playing this deck against Ruby Sapphire but I feel like it’ll be rough against Steelsongs/Discard Steel. I think Spellbook might be worth running as a 1x of in matchups like Ruby Amethyst or Ruby Sapphire to help put your opponent on a clock and they can’t get rid of Book (unless they run Judy).

Did you consider using the 3 drop rafiki to help in the Steel match up, it adds one more board control option and strength against other location ? For 2 copies instead of maleficent

I like BBB in the lists running the discard plan with Lucifer and Friar. However, I am testing out a version with 2 Bounce and liking it so far. 3 drop Maleficent can easily be cut from the list.

Thoughts on evasive Tink or Genie to deal with surfers? Seen a lot of GP run that and didn't know if you found those to be helpful against RP

I would still lean towards being aggressive but would keep either 1 snake or fox just in case you need to shift gears into controlling the board.

If you play Ursula on turn 2 against steel and they have AWNW, Grab Your Sword, and Let the Storm Rage On, which do you discard first? Let’s assume you only get to do it one time before turn 5. Is it always AWNW?

Depends on how fast they will be able to sing a 5 cost song and what your board looks like. Definitely going to be between AWNW or Swords.

Don't let your opponent get value out of their 2 drop Ursula. Mulligan and ink your songs early. However, oddly enough, whoever gets to double sing off of 3 drop Ursula will pull way ahead. So consider that and Queens Castle.

4 ursulas deceiver of all, is the reason XD I mean im sure you are a good player, but this, or any emerald deck really, has no chance of being competitive without that ursula, and that to me is a sign of a poor design. OR greedy. congratulation s on the win man is really a feat :)
